Steam Cloud wasn't an option out of the gate? Oof glad they added it though. What specs are you using? Cuz mine arent terrible but they could definitely be better at the same time ya know?
The two original "big" performance issues people tend to talk about are as follows...
1. It's pretty GPU demanding, but that's if you want to play at high native resolution. Using scaling, or turning some settings down, are always options. it's not hard to get good performance with good visuals here unless you have something much slower and older. You'll be more than fine with an RTX 3070 as long as you aren't expecting 1440p native/120 FPS at maximum settings. The scaling doesn't look awful here (though some methods are better than others; I personally recommend XeSS or DLSS instead of FSR or TSR, and likewise, avoid TXAA [it has ghosting and "after image pixels"] and settle for FXAA and enable sharpening to counteract its natural bluriness the best you can) and you can drop shadows to low or medium, and shaders to medium, and it gives a nice performance boost and the game still looks fine. All in all, this one can be dealt with as long as you're not using something very low on performance. Your RTX 3070 is fine here (I'm playing on a 7800 XT for reference, maximum settings, always 60 FPS, and have headroom).
But mostly people are talking about the following...
2. The traversal stutter. You can't overpower this one with hardware; its the nature of the game so it will just be there. Personally, as someone playing on a locked 60 FPS and moving slow (mostly walking as opposed to nonstop running), it typically doesn't occur often enough or severely enough to bother me. But, your expectations may vary from mine. If you're targeting 120 FPS+ the drops may feel more severe.
My system is a little weaker than yours I think but if I play on mid I think I'll be fine if the stutters have gotten better. Thanks for the help!
The performance of the game has improved for me. At first, the performance was pretty bad, especially in The Apartment, but it feels smoother now after the patch. (for me at least)
Is it stuttering more in interiors or the fog world? I was thinking the shaders for the fog compiling during play would be the big issue. Is that not the case?
Does DLSS help much?
