Is Team Silent's involvement in this game overstated / only for marketing?
Mature discussion only please.

The game does not feel like the Team Silent games. It's missing the touch that only Team Silent provided. I would say this game is more in line with Shattered Memories than the original Silent Hill 2.

The OST for the game does not sound anything like Akira Yamaoka's famous gritty and dreamy work of the original, instead sort of a glossy Hollywood pastiche. The music in this game is very dull in comparison to the original.

Masahiro Ito famously said "Don't get me wrong. THAT'S THE THING I DON'T WANT." in response to the prospects of a Silent Hill 2 remake. Now he not only supports one, but supposedly worked on it? I don't think so.

So, my theory is that Konami / Bloober Team lied about Yamaoka and Ito's involvement in this demake, and both men are reluctantly going along with it because they don't want to damage their relationship with Konami again.

Akira was not the only one working on the OST, that's why is some areas the OST sounds "off" and "not fitting in Silent Hill theme at all"
Masahiro Ito for 100% created the design for those monsters. That's his work, every detail of monsters looks exactly like in OG

Akira Yamaoka did almost all the soundtrack and it sounds almost identical to the original Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. Some tracks are even more atmospheric than the original.

Masahiro Ito confirmed he did most off the ART and signed off on it. There's numrious examples on twitter and the games creatures look better than the original in most cases with much better animations and far more creepy movements. Most people praise the work done to the creatures of Silent Hill.

If you think Akira Yamoka and Ito lied you have no understanding of how music and art contracts work in the industry.

This threads likely a troll thread trying to being legitimacy to lies and utter tripe/misinfo spread by youtube grifters and trolls online. It doesn't show you own the game. I do and have 30+ hours in it.

PROVE they lied.

Why do you forum posters always assume people who disagree with you are trolls. I never accused Yamaoka-san or Ito-san of lying, but Konami and Bloober.

Define " glossy Hollywood pastiche"

provide examples of tracks that you think sound like that

Literally all of the ones in-game. Even Promise sounds cheaper.

So they forced Akira Yamaoka to lie? As he promoted the game on his FB few times, and he clearly stated that he is working on soundtrack and sound design for SH2 remake.

As for why the music might sound different despite being by the same person? It's been 20+ years dude. His taste and his process most definitely has changed. In fact, I remember hearing how Yamaoka started making dance music (for proof, one of the tracks in Persona 4: Dancing All Night was done by him)

Even then, I'd say most of the tracks are still pretty close to the originals. In fact, I think there are times the originals will briefly play.

I feel really sorry for you if you believe that Yamaoka-san was anything other than the composer of those scores in this remake.

You just proved you didn't play the game. You haven't listened to the soundtrack. The soundtracks received universal praise even from people who are the most critical.

This is just yet another troll thread. Made up garbage terms like "glossy Hollywood pastiche" where you can't even define the lies your spouting.

So you are calling Akira Yamoka a liar?

Pathetic

Have you even played the real Silent Hill 1 and 2? If you did, you would know that those soundtracks are better. All fans of the original say as much. If you bothered to search on these forums you would see it's pretty unanimous that the original is better.
