OK so what's the verdict - SOUL or SOULLESS?
Getting ready for the Halloween sale because I don't think ANY remake should be 70 bucks.

I'm just wanting to calculate how much it's going to be worth to me and whether I need to wait and figure in a SOULLESS discount.

Toodles.

RTX 4090 users are having stuttering problems with a lot of products so that's an optimization issue.

As for the face models uncanny valley creepiness - after Mia Winters in RE7 anything else is mild by comparison.

I thought it was pretty good.

I played the original Silent Hill when it was new. I was a little late on playing Silent Hill 2 and did not get to it until 2005-ish. I played Silent Hill 3 right after, then 4 which I stopped and did not go back to until 2020. Played Shattered Memories on PSP. I tried Origins, Homecoming, Downpour and Book of Memories and did not get very far. I would be open to trying Downpour again though. I enjoyed Short Message for what it was. I also run a Silent Hill trivia panel which covers all the games and movies.

Overall, it is pretty good. Subjectively it is better than the original, but it is also in some ways its own thing. It is better to see it as an alternative version rather than a definitive version.

There are some minor problems and differences that with mods could form the potential for one's own definitive version of SH2.

I can't speak on the PC version as I have played the PS5. Sounds fixable though.

As a comparison...
I prefer FFVI Advance over Pixel Remaster because of the font, translation, portraits, added content and less censorship... but it has it's own problems. Some people prefer the original SNES, because the translation had more "soul" and no censorship except some of the enemies. Pixel Remaster is subjectively better and more accessible, but even some of the visual changes take away from the foreboding atmosphere of the original. There are some people who actually prefer the playstation version which to me is comparable to SH HD Collection. All versions still offer one great game.

It's me. I'm the activist.

That's easy mode. Try it with Flesh Lips and then tell me what's up.

you are missing two important pieces of data:
+ the number of reviews, related the early support from activists. many, if not most of those positive reviews are from people that never cared about the original, or chose to give this one a chance without caring at all about the original source.

so, the amount of supporters is smaller than what could be if this game had been faithful and accurate. also, some new supporters are likely people thinking that even if the game still has multiple flaws, bugs and is literally halfcooked, see potential in the modding community which is actually making some of the improvements and fixes devs should have done, and still could, but likely wont.

+ devs did backtracked a bit after early negative reactions (wise of them, but doesnt change they were involved with a dei consultancy group, and that the changes introduced were likely consequence of their bs; they were "testing the waters", but decided not to risk getting terrible sales: they needed a win).

ask yourself this question:
what makes this game different to others involved with a dei consultancy firm?
why nexusmods is currently "tolerating" the mods that fix or replace angela, and other female models to look closer to how they should (relative to their original design and aspect)?

it may not have ended as woke as "alan woke 2", but if you learn to look for the "early signs of infection" you can find them in this game. konami shouldnt get money after trying that, and also after giving bloober a task they should have offered to local devs that would be more concerned about accuracy and quality, rather than trying to save money and expect miracles from a dev without enough experience in the mechanics and design needed for this game (which to be fair, probably did the best they could, with what they got).

>woke game does bad
>lol wokies don't buy games
>woke game does good
>the success is from wokies faking support, they aren't actually playing the game like us REAL gamers would
>source
>it came to me in a dream
I have to wonder how it's like to live with this much cognitive dissonance.

Why have less than a quarter of players on Steam finished the game, after nearly a month? It seems like this game was positively review bombed by Hit Detection.

Most games don't hit 40% player completion after 6 months.

But you wouldn't know that since you don't actually play games.

I loved the game despite some stutter. For me it was not that bad. Great atmosphere and good invested bucks and nearly 20 hours.

Every weird right-wing cope thread reads exactly like this, followed by a bunch of banned accounts making weird slurs about the devs.

It's not without flaws, but there was definitely a lot of care and heart put into this remake, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. I would love to see a remake of 1 and/or 3 in this spirit.

Honestly 1 could do with a remake so badly. The PS1 has not aged gracefully at this point.

Was Dead Space remake review bombed?
https://steamcommunity.com/stats/1693980/achievements/
only 38% completed chapter 12 after more than a year!

https://eu.indeonline.com/story/news/2020/06/27/why-most-people-dont-finish-video-games/113368900/
"Video games are enjoyed by millions of people around the world. The one thing that most of these gamers have in common is the failure to finish games. Industry experts estimate that a new game will only be completed by 10 to 20 percent of its players. These are the four main reasons most people do not finish video games."

Some more data that most people NEVER finish games
https://www.neogaf.com/threads/only-10-20-of-people-finish-videogames.1671573/

But nah, it must be Hit Detection!
What's funny is that you've proven just how disgusting it is to go after the "modern" or "phantom" audience by utilizing companies like Sweet Baby or Hit Detection. They clearly only care about sales numbers. So much for "video games are art".

1/6th of people completing games just tells me that the hobby is flooded with disinterested normies that are only here because it became mainstream, not because they actually love it. The same FOMO idiots that watch Marvel movies and Critical Role.

Man, we really shoulda gatekept harder in the 90's.
