Silent Hill 2's development was rough on Bloober Team because of online 'hate'

Hate, harassment and derogatory comments about the actors and developers needs to stop, they are normal people and did a really great job. I doubt anyone else could have done it better.

They weren't "pretty bad". Layers of Fear has a 75 on metacritic, Observer Redux has a 79, The Medium has a 71, and Blair Witch is 69. These aren't bad games. They're aggressively mid at worst. All of them also performed fairly well financially.

can't blame them honestly, the so called "real fans" are absolute cancer. no wonder silent hill never got a sequel.

They are not Real Fans. They are politically obsessed tourists and incels from a bunch of youtube grifter channels. Furthermore, they are mostly men who never played the silent hill games but who vaguely heard how Silent Hill 2 had sexual themes and decided they like it too because it co-insides with their video game character porn addiction.

I'm pretty sure Layers of Fear and Observer also both had above an 80 when they came out. Recent reviews pulled the score down. Unfortunately, archive.org is down so you'll have to take my word for it, for now.

The people i know who are fans wouldn't consider attacking the devs or posting childish hate threads online. Most fans are in their late 30's or early 40s and are far too mature for posting immature insults online and most recognise that this remake is the best we could hope for and far better then expected.

The hate comes from sexists who believe every game should cater to their porn addiction and women only exist as candy for the eyes. They even complained that this game needs more sexual violence. Some of them might be of adult age but their maturity level is of that of a child and have a hatred for women.

That is such a strange critique. I guess I missed the part where you run around with grenades and a rocket launcher, doing crowd control on waves of enemies, parrying and lining up precision shots.

I must have missed that in my time of actually playing the game.

I'm a fan of the original 2 silent hill games, less so than resident evil but I digress..

I honestly feel bloober absolutely knocked it out of the park with this release, it's hard to remake a game and keep it true to its roots and I think bloober did a good job with it.

I ain't that hyped. I still prefer the OG versions. They should have remade the first SH. Done their own thing but nope.

The way the characters look (Angela looks weird to me now, the eyebrows and male shaped face/head...) this is how she looked in the OG game https://silenthill.fandom.com/wiki/Angela_Orosco?file=Angela_SH2.png all they had to do was bring that model to life in this remake

The OG Maria https://silenthill.fandom.com/wiki/Maria?file=Maria_SH_2.png and they changed her outfit and etc in this version.

There are probably more changes/differences but I'm not an SH 2 expert that knows the game inside out. You'd have to ask them.

James always hid in the closet there. There is no censorship. Have you ever played an SH game before?

So I really view this just as part of doing business and you have to learn how to filter out just general hate comments, from people expressing disappointment in what you have shown and said. The hard part is not filtering out comments that are just negative because it hurts your fellings with how hard you have worked on something.

Sure it would be nice if this wasn't the case, but we live in a world where the actor of Star Lord got death threats for what his character did in Infinity War. So many people have eyes on this stuff, and can easily anonymously post, that there is always going to be some crazies out there, and I really wish companies would stop highlighting them as that is only going to make the issues worse.
