Framegen Bug
I have Framegeneration set to on (DLSS) but i'm not noticing any difference in framerate. Anyone else who has this problem?

Frame Generation does appear to work, but it also appears to have noticeable artifacts and "jittering" when panning the camera just a little too fast. These artifacts also affect text on screen in the form of the letters and words being doubled when panning the camera. Otherwise, input latency feels good with the built in Frame Generation, but the image stability needs to be improved. Prior to this update i have been using a mod called "Optiscaler" which allows the use of DLSS Upscaler alongisde FSR3 Frame Generation and FSR3 FG appears to provide a MUCH more smoother and stable image, but introduces noticeable input lag and instability that would result in the form of 1-3 second stutters to a straight up crash with a resulting error such as:

"LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\SilentWorkspace\501T-BL\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 868] CurrentQueue.Device->GetDevice()->GetDeviceRemovedReason() failed at D:\SilentWorkspace\501T-BL\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Submission.cpp:910 with error 887A0006"

It's unfortunate that Bloober did not take the time to implement and finely tune FG into this game prior to it's release. I'm not sure allowing an "early release" with the PC version was very wise.

Could you share the Optiscaler mod?

Could you share the Optiscaler mod?

1. Download OptiScaler v0.7.0-pre9: https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler/releases/tag/v0.7.0-pre23
2. Extract all the files to: "<Your_SilentHill2_Folder>\SHProto\Binaries\Win64"
3. Rename "nvngx.dll" to "dxgi.dll"
4. Start the game
5. Go to Settings -> Display & Graphics -> Frame Rate Cap -> Set to 60 fps (FG will double the amount you choose. If you want higher, use V-Sync instead or set Frame Rate Cap to Unlimited and use an external Frame Limiter)
6. Go to Settings -> Display & Graphics -> Supersampling -> Enable DLSS and choose your preferred preset
7. Go to Settings -> Display & Graphics -> Panini Projection -> Set to off (this will cause massive ghosting for wide/ultrawide screens with FG enabled if not disabled)
8. Press "Insert" key when in-game and Enable Frame Generation. Do not turn it on before you get in-game or your game may crash during loading

Notes:
- It is recommended that you can run the game at 60 fps (without FG) for minimal latency. Adjust the graphics settings accordingly.
- If you have an AMD/Intel graphic card, there are additional steps for OptiScaler installation. See: https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler?t ... stallation
- RTSS (MSI Afterburner) will crash with OptiScaler. Turn it off before starting the game
- It is recommended to use Fullscreen mode for optimal performance and latency
- It is not recommended to enable FG Hud Fix or FG Allow Sync in OptiScaler (prone to cause crashes)
- You do NOT need any additional config in Engine.ini unless you want to change certain graphical effects

It is beyond me to understand why people are figuratively and literally buying and accepting all kinds of garbage and falling for all retarded fads like "frame gen".. No wonder a high end GPU is now going for 2.5K and we still have 8GB GPUs in 2024, when we've had mainstream 8GBVRAM since 8 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years ago.. :steamfacepalm:

Frame gen works fine. Maybe you have a fps cap on. If you cap fps to 60 then you won't "notice" a different because fps is capped to 60.

I do see others having their frame generation working, but mine was working before the update I have hardware accel on and I don't have a cap

Why are you crying over someone reporting that a feature you don't like doesn't work? Frame gen can be pretty handy when you're on a high refresh-rate monitor and not on top of the line hardware.

Yep. It works great on upper end hardware. People on low end hardware are mistakenly under the impression it's to uplift bad performance to good. It's not for that at all.

nobody here is saying otherwise, the main point is that its not working for me and others

Ok?
How does that refute what I said.

it doesn't, your comment was arguably unrelated
