Game wont start

Since todays update ( 21/10 ) my copy of the game wont start

it just gives an erro window saying

"couldnt start .... SHProoto-win64-shipping.exe SHProto createProcess() returned 2"

has nayone else been getting this

how do you fix it

i tried uninstalling the game, deleteing its lefover folder and reinstalleing ( and of course rebooting my pc )

your antivir is throwing a false positive! check it out and add an exception for sh2r.
had the same prob with avast and without that you'll get a "disk error" everytime you want to reinstall the game/patch!

Wow,
having compleatly deleted and uninstalled steam, the game and the games save folder ( i hope my backup works ) - done much googling restarted multiple times and looked through the games logs it could be that the whole time.

as soon as my game reinstall ( again ) ill try disabling my anti virus

is it only avast or do other products cause this issue

idk... but afaik false positives (so called "IDP.Generic" reports) are another problem with UE5.... 🙄

A game crashes on startup after a new patch and you thought the reasonable solution was to delete and uninstall Steam, the game and your save folder?

Same problem here. Norton put the file in quarantine, just made an exception and released it from quarantine. Ok now.

which specific file do you have to put in the exception list?

I had previously used a mod to get rid of the stuttering problems so yes i did believe that compleatly clearing out any files which may have been left behind and corrupted/incompatable with the new version was reasonable.

i is now looking forward to 4k with everything at max well above 60fps at all times.

Same problem here. No problem before and yesterday, occured just after the new latest patch. Hope they'll fix it.

leute guckt bei euch in euren quarantäne ordner. da waren beide datein drinne. ausnahme erlauben und gut ist. spiel funktioniert wieder bei mir ;)

I had the same problem at first.
try disabling your anti virus compleatly ( some of them have an option to disable it for a fixed amount of time )
Disable all features and try to run the game
