The complaining is largely coming from YouTubers/journalists who fish for traffic with outrage from those gullible enough to latch on without thinking for themselves, or from a very vocal minority that wants to push certain agendas (or is echoing the aforementioned YouTubers). That's it; that literally explains the vast majority of this complaining. In time, it will die down (already has been) as these people come to the realization that the game is being enjoyed despite their efforts to establish a narrative otherwise.
Are there legitimate issues with the game? Yes. Namely, the performance isn't perfect. And... that's kind of about it for the "big" ones. There's also some requested features (cloud saves) and minor quirks and bugs, but you'll notice that besides the performance, most people are happy enough with almost everything about the game itself.
As for Claire in Resident Evil 2, people were even complaining about that. They were saying it wasn't a true 1:1 outfit even though it was close, so people will always complain.
That being said, I'm all for requests or "complaining" to get 1:1 outfits because sometimes a thing is changed and you just don't like the changed one. Those who hold the original game near and dear might just want the original outfits. And that's fine. It is admittedly odd that Konami/Bloober didn't include them, even if it was as paid DLC as there was a financial incentive there, but maybe they figured most people wouldn't be too bothered by the changes (or maybe they figured modders would do there thing here, which they have). But the majority of that complaining isn't "good faith" complaining; it's just an excuse to push whatever outrage/agenda they want. That's why every time one of those complainers made a point, and it was refuted, the goal post moved.
some people claim the redesign was done purely to "censor the male gaze" but the tattoo was moved to her cleavage, meaning that in order to see it, the player would have to look at her chest, so that point is moot.
Good gravy
