$70 for the base game?
Simple question: is the trend on game prices going up again? How long does it take to finish this game for $70. Not complaining, just wondering.

I'm complaining. The price is "too dang high!!1" Even $59 was too dang high! Then add in the horrible optimization and = NOPE!

You can buy a movie DVD that had a budget of like $80,000,000 for ~$20, but a game that is just code on a hard drive is $60-80? Make it make sense.

It seems to be that most of the new triple A games cost this much nowadays.

They added a lot of repetitive filler to extend the play time.

Right now I'm playing God of War Ragnarök and have 32 hours into it and I'm about 60% complete. It cost $59. So what does $70 buy me, game length-wise?

Serious answer? The industry as a whole are still figuring out how to make more games profitable - a tiny few pull in the revenue. Longer term issue, keeping game price increases below inflation, coming to a head as games have spiralled out in scope and in work required to meet expectatations of visual quality. See it too with the layoffs over the past couple of years. My personal bet is for more publishers to follow the old Slitherine/Matrix path of knowing they're making niche games and adjusting prices upwards to fit the low volume of sales - although that carries a heap more other expectations such as very long term support.

This game is 15 hours for a run through, maybe 20 if you're slower. Probably want two or three runs if you want all the endings and are achievement hunting. Vote with your wallet whether it's something you want to see more of, especially outside of the indie space, or not. If your wallet is more in tune with indie games and prices, Signalis is a fantastic survival horror which leans heavily on Silent Hill.

Go play Persona 5, it's 150 hours od gameplay and the same price. If that's all that matters, right?

Just play a free game for 1 minute to optimize cost to time ratio. :steamhappy:

I would read reviews from people who own the game. You can sort by both positive and negative reviews.

That said, I'm definitely enjoying it and finding it to be worth the money. Keep an eye on the little mouse icon next to people's names. When it's not there, it tends to suggest that they don't own the game. I'm noticing a pretty strong pattern of people who do own the game enjoying it. The people who have strong negative opinions of the game tend to have never put hands on it.

I finished with an in-game time of 15h and 43 minutes on standard, felt a lot longer though. All depends on your pacing, and how you solve puzzles. I'd recommend with an 6.5/10 for the price point, 9/10 for the actual game ignoring the price.

not the only aspect, but one of many.

also persona 5 is not only longer, but also better in every way. ie, the sound design in persona 5, even if it isnt a horror game, is a lot better (which is one of the few things this game should have done better than anything else).

Theres more combat in persona 5, relative to the amount of dialogues, and still it wont feel boring, because it combat system is entertaining and one of the main "features" of the game. the combat system in this game, like many other things in it, feels half-cooked and rushed, which makes combat feel boring and repetitive; a "chore".

the original version of this game is also better, relative to its original context and actual quality. the pacing in combat and puzzles is also better, even when this "remake" could have (and should have) included the option to "run fast" to try to skip some unnecessary battles, with the risk of getting ambushed or cornered, similar to a souls like mechanic.

price of everything is up!

but wait for a sale. I wanted the game, and just paid, I enjoyed it but if I had a do over, I'd wait for a sale.

The game is good, but not full price good imo

You are comparing apples to oranges here though lol.
I absolutely loved P5R but come on, those are two very different games.

If you want to play it now youll pay 70. If not itll be cheaper. Does the game have aspects that make it worth that much? Hell no. If anything else were out right now that i wanted to actually play id skip this and play it later. It has bout 15-25+ hours in it depending on how slow you progress and how much exploring you do. They charge 70 because they can not because its worth that.
