Lost my save

So I reset my pc forgetting about my save file. I had just gotten to part when I pick up the rifle. I downloaded a save file but nothing is showing up in game and it is making me start a new save. Can anyone help? I really dont have the time to start all over :(

There is none as of now. It's why so many people are losing their saves.

Man, that really sucks to hear. This is a really long game, and you got pretty far. The devs should consider adding cloud support to this game. It's critical with these kinds of long experiences.

Lunix: or run a search for (2124490) the game id number.
/steamapps/compatdata/2124490/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/SilentHill2/Saved/SaveGames/76561197995254970/

You can try making a quick save on a new file and running a search for a .sav file. Or renaming the replacement save as the one you have made and swapping it in. If none of the saves you have downloaded are not showing up at all it may be the wrong folder.
