Response to Bloober announcing they're open to doing more Silent Hill

PLEASE! Do Silent Hill 4. I am begging you. The fact that this dev team kept all the unnecessary weird stuff like the ritual prisoners, the demonic horse sounds, the bathroom and so much more. These devs would be perfect coloring in the lines remaking 4. It's even connected to 2 and they kept the connections in the remake.

I see tons of people saying remake 1 or combine 1 & 3. I completely disagree. 1 just shares so many similarities with 2 in the environments. 3 has the entire mall section. They would have to do so much to make those games feel fresh. Yes they're great games but they require more work compared to 2 & 4.

The core issue of 4 was the "improved" combat & camera. Both of which Bloober could easily fix. They have already proven they're willing to keep the weird and even expand on it. Their skills are perfect for a fantastic remake that could be better than the original.

While I admit having to make the engine run on Vulkan DX11 was weird. Technical issues aside this game is incredibly faithful and filled with love. Before modding the game I was getting 90 FPS regardless. Just the annoying occasional frame skips.

I hope so. They have proven themselves to be more than capable. And it runs beautifully on PS5. Who cares about PC? I like saving money and not spending half my time troubleshooting back ends of these things.

I'm torn.

I really want to see 3 (and 1) remade. I think 3 might be my personal favorite, even if 2 is overall the better game. And a remake of 3 really calls for a remake of 1.

But I also really liked 4 (even back when it was hated by pretty much everyone), and if they were open to making multiple additional remakes, then a remake of 4 might mean a remake of 3 either comes way later, or never at all (both 4 and 1 would need to be successful first).

In a way, Konami/Bloober could have what's sometimes called a "good problem" here if they want to remake more entries, because they definitely have multiple avenues open, but some might lock out the others later if the next ones aren't successful enough.

Besides 2, I think 1 had the most sales. (But maybe this remake doing as well as it is, despite its original selling slow at the start, will have Konami chose based on more than just sales of the originals from decades ago.)

Besides 2, I think 3 is the other fan favorite.

And besides all of those after 4... 4 itself was the most divisive. The story and characters were fine, but the second half being repetitive and the lengthy escort part got complaints. I was fine with it, but I understand the complaints.

A faithful remake of 1 and 3 in the same way this one is remade would be fine enough. A remake of 4 challenges you with the question of "do we remain faithful or do we consider slight changes". You'd have complaints either way. I can see 4 being passed on until later over this.

But as someone who liked 4, I would not at all be disappointed if it was announced for a remake.

Didnt stop RE from making bank non stop on the games.

What damage did they do? The only thing I can think they did poorly was Maria/Marys voice actor and the letter scene. But to beat the performance on either is such an incredibly high bar and the original actor had no knowledge beforehand when reading it. The developers were so faithful, the highs and lows are the exact same but more amplified. Everything after the Hospital is better than the original. While the Hospital is just as bad, if not worse than the original. I have beaten original again just last year and it nails every beat from memory.

I personally want them to remake 1 next, as it's the game in most need of a remake, with it's old PS1 polygon graphics. It's also the one that's the most critically acclaimed behind the second game. 4 wasn't bad, but I don't see them remaking it ahead of 1 or 3.

A remake of SH4 would be nice but less straightforward to modernize. The big problem with 4 for me was that the last half is just a rehash of the same levels. It would require some careful reworking to make it less tedious but still faithful to the original experience. Also a big appeal of that game was the contrast between the 1st person and old-school fixed camera gameplay. I hope they don`t just put everything over the shoulder.

Personally I have a soft spot for Origins. Am I crazy?

SH4 is a very interesting game but SH1 is older (PS1) and would benefit the most from a remake IMO. OP has good points though. Also I’m interested to hear I’m not the only one who thought about having SH1 and SH3 combined into a single game. I think the narrative would greatly benefit from that, though it would be a heavy undertaking.
