Why do people think that the remake ruined Eddie ?
I think Eddie is the only character to come out without a doubt better in this remake. In the original, outside of the iconic "Just put the gun to their head and pow !" scene, literally everything he ever says makes me feel absolutely nothing because his voice acting was somehow an entire level worse than all of the other "purposefully awkward" characters.

His story beats are the exact same, but his deranged sense of self is shown in a far more effective manner with his voice acting (Which was the best in the entire remake IMO. It kept the extremely awkward tone from the OG games but elevated it far above.)
The only "New" thing they introduced is that they made his version of Silent Hill WAY more overt with the misty breath and frozen corpse (Which isnt a bad thing, mind you).

I like him better in Remake as well, or I should say, I despise him in Remake, which is to say Bloober did a great job on him. He looks fat, ugly, and disgusting. It's not just the fat shaming kinda way, but he's just disgusting. His body is slick with sweat sheen, he eats ice-cream with his hand and wipe his hand on his shirt, food stain on collar, extra chin. He's just filthy. Everything about me screams "Yuck!" and his scenes are hardest to watch for me. This is the reason why he was picked on, and killed ppl for it, and I hate him with every fiber of my being just watching him.

Edit: so yes, the team have done a fantastic job on him. They achieved their goal. He's a weak, pathetic loser with a gun, and I hate him with every fiber of my being as I'm supposed to.

i think for me the OG Eddie had a better character development, he was scared in the apartments, and his insanity took over slowly when we first met him in the prison, until the final cutscene when he lost his mind.
the way he delivered those lines in the end was better, although i liked the "a corpse can't laugh" in the remake it was powerfull
But ruined... nah no way

He was more likable in the original, that's for sure. It made you feel bad for killing him (which is the point). I do agree with the OP about the actor's performance, though. So much better in the remake.
