And honestly, the remake is much better than the original, idc
theres no doubt the female character models put a massive dent in how the game was recieved though as it's an incredibly common talking point whenever the game is mentioned.
the lolicon actually reported my post and i got a community warning
someones nerves has been strucked
Comparatively speaking this game did fine. If they were expecting Resident Evil numbers, though, then they're a bit delusional.
And we all know supreme pachinko developer Konami haven’t got it in them to make an actual brand new game that doesn’t suck
We saw what happened when they were left to their own devices with metal gear survive so what do you think would happen to a brand new silent hill. I shudder to think about it
Probably why they chose to just remake metal gear solid 3 as it’s an easy cash grab. As bloober team aren’t involved in that it hopefully won’t be compromised to pander to a non existent audience
Remember when Konami were once seen as an amazing company. They’ve fallen faster than this game has out of the top sellers
Over 80% of Wukongs sales were in China. Without those Wukong sold roughly the same as SH2.
The vast majority of users are going to pay $70 for this title. But, the purpose of this breakdown is to refute the naysayers, taking into account all of the unauthorized key sellers, regional pricing differences, etc. So let's revise the average sale price all the way down to $40 a pop.
Both Steam and PlayStation take a 30% cut, on the high end. $40 mil - 30% ($12 mil) = $28 million.
That's $2 million away from profitability, after 3 days. That's before the holiday sales, DLCs, discounts and re-releases, if and when it appears in other platforms, etc. Plus, it's a single player horror game. It's going to have a longer tail than some F2P online game.
Also, while it's true that Konami will get a cut, they also provided funding. Even if you assume that they provided 60% of the budget, and get 70% of the cut, that puts Konami $1.6 mil and Bloober $3.6 mil away from profitability... after 3 days.
The game is a success.
Now that we have an early indicator of sales figures, the only hope the detractors have is to inflate the supposed budget of the game beyond realistic expectations. They'll compare it to games from much larger teams, games with much larger development and marketing costs.
Silent Hill was basically a dead IP and what few fans Silent Hill still has were very skeptical of this Remake. No one believed this would be a good game and people are slow to accept that it is.
But, it ended up being a great game and everyone who's playing it, both users and critics, loves it. Silent Hill 2 Remake established some much needed credibility for a Bloober fronted series of Silent Hill Remakes. The next one would likely release to a lot more confidence/optimism from Silent Hill fans and a lot more interest from survival horror fans in general.
A game released in 2024 sold faster than a game from 20+ years ago released to a substantially smaller market?
Shocking stuff. lol
You gotta ignore that one. They just troll every new release. Same person was in the Dead Rising remake calling it "Woke" because they expected to be able to have "upskirt sex with the female zombies"
