How Faithful is the Remake?
Never played the original, although I've seen a bit of it. Only thing I really know is how much different the characters look now. I liked the original designs a lot more. Except for James, though. He actually looks better in the remake than in the original, at least to me he does. The enemy designs are awesome, especially Pyramid Head. He looks great.

Not at all, they do a lot of DEI stuff in it.

it is a completely faithful Callisto Protocol reskin with many excellent silent hill 2 themed assets.

i'd advise anyone who likes this version to at least try the ps2 one. the combat is bad and the camera is awkward but sh2 and really every sh game until 4 is worth at least checking out.

I find hilarity in this seeing as you have high amount of playtime in Dead by Daylight lol and no this game was not ruined by DEI. For the record OP, if you see people like this saying it's DEI or woke and they don't own the game then disregard their opinion.

They try to be faithful but also change key aspects that ruin the overall story and atmosphere of the game.

Kind of take me lightly as I too never played original but going by amount of positives and also based on what I know about original the themes are here still, though maybe an angle change. Basically what I am saying is the original vision of the game seems to be kept intact. Still very much mature themes within the game.
The story is the same as the original, it's received some expansion onto it though which includes two new secret endings. Themes for the game are very much in-line with the original, and with Ito going with the monster designs he wanted to go with for the original game it's more in line with the vision that they couldn't do back in 2001 due to time constraints and technical limitations.

I'd really say the only changes in the game is having manual control of the camera, an improved combat system and just different voice actors that are also used as face models for the characters so there isn't any influence of pop culture like there was in the original. Oh, and destructible environments...

it's actually three new endings, but one of them replaces the old ufo ending, presumably to avoid referencing sh1 even harder than sh2 already avoided that.

They all come from that one DEI detected steam group and since it's curated SH2R as having a Hit Detection consultant they come in the forums to repeat the same jazz non-sense like mindless sheep farming for jester points since that's the only level of validation they've received since their childhood. In any case, despite the game having consulted with Hit Detection it's only woke to the people that come from YT grifters that feed them misinformation because there isn't anything in the game that suggests wokeness.

If it was woke, the monsters models wouldn't be more sexual compared to the OG, Maria wouldn't have any sultry sensuality to her and the psychological horror game with concurrent dark themes would have trigger warnings.

The adaptation of this remake is absolutely faithful. I played the original as it came out, and I can remember the content of Mary's full letter word for word. Everything in this game remains the same in terms of story. Additional scenario and gameplay are added, and they improve upon it, changing it from mash the button until it dies to actual combat. Eddie is uglier and more unhinged, more disturbing. Angela put me off at first, but this is version is what a SA survivor should've looked like. Laura is great too, but a little less brattiness. Maria/Mary is a bit lacking in VA department especially when she reads out her full letter. But in terms of faithfulness, this is perfect.

I thought it was only 2 new endings? Making it 8 in total. In Water, Leave, Maria, Rebirth, UFO, Dog, Stillness and Bliss

the remake ufo ending is very different to the ufo ending on ps2. i might like remake's better honestly.

I've heard about that, but I don't think that would change anything in regards to the amount of endings there are in the game.

It would be a major uproar if they changed anything about the letter in the remake considering Jeremy wrote that letter for the original game while imagining the pain and now his wife of nearly 30 years has passed away about 2 years ago because of cancer. I just wanted to point out that fact.

He definitely needs help. He's constant lurking on these forums despite claiming to hate this game. Guy also thinks you can't be a true SH2 fan if you like the Remake. smh
