Faced with game breaking bug....

I just went and finished the puzzle in the labyrinth where I went and used the lighter to burn down the white curtain holding a bloody box. It made a hole. Then I went and jumped down that hole. The problem is that when you go down and go back to the area with the cube puzzle, the cube puzzle is supposed to be split in half by the great knife. The great knife appeared one time for me and when I attempted to grab it, it disappeared. Then the cube puzzle turned back to normal. There was no hint of the great knife in my inventory. Furthermore, I had a previous save where the hole was made from the big bloody box but I did not jump down yet. I reloaded that save and jumped down the hole. The knife doesn't even appear anymore. So now I'm stuck in the game and can't continue. Help anyone?

same here. hoping for a patch. not sure what else i can do

People say to spam-load your autosave at the hole after the bloody cube falls. And to wait before jumping.

It works for some, doesn't for others. And if it doesn't... it's sadly either start over from the beginning, or wait for a patch. I'm in your boat, I hope for a patch too.

I played through that segment and WTF are you even describing? The Great Knife only appears after you finish all 3 segments of the labyrinth and when Maria dies, not just after the first segment where you burn the white curtain. The Great Knife is only used to open the area out of the labyrinth, which is blocked by those weird hands. And what do you mean "the cube puzzle is supposed to split in half"? Are we even playing the same game?

As Strange as it is, This was the fix. I had never played silent hill 2 before and didn't know the chain of events. **The problem was the great knife loaded before it shouldve**. This made you think something messed up and thats why you couldnt find the great knife. Upon seeing this comment i looked at the symbol behind the CUBE and matched that using the small cube you rotate and then i walked in the cube and then walked down the stairs at the back of the cube and the story progressed. Eventually i returned to the same spot (from a different way) and the great knife was there. I picked it up , and walked through the previously blocked hallway. I didn't expect the true fix was this simple. Thats why its "not been patched yet". Hoping others see this comment so they can Fix the problem.
