I don't know why but it felt like Brookhaven hospital just wouldn't end.

I think that was like one of the first areas that I felt was so different from the original I had to look around a lot more

I liked it but yeah, it went on too long. The Apartments were good and I felt like the initial walking around the city was perfect.

that's why it's first... it has fun combat, very open level design at one point, very solid atmosphere and it's long too... perfect

I know the PlayStation 2 couldn't do a whole lot of things that modern technology can... The town finally felt like a town and the fog was moody and wasn't just a piece to hide the limitations

I feel the same about the hospital, first half, amazing, second half, a chore. I really don't like the otherworld parts of the game now are divided by sections, instead of expanding them little by little as you explore and find new items.

I'll rank the major interior locations as I can't really compare the exterior to them as they play and feel different.

I hated Brookhaven otherworld but loved Brookhaven normal as it provided a less linear experience and had a much stronger horror atmosphere (the basement!!). The otherworld reminded me of all the worst Silent Hill experiences. Homecoming. Revelation movie. It just wasn't fun compared to the apartments and wasn't scary.

Hotel was amazing though. It's the only interior that really felt faithful even if the layout was different. The colours, textures and music gave me a huge nostalgia hit. Beautiful location.

yeah, hospital outherworld coud've been better, it makes you go three ways to open a box, and it was good and ok... then nothing more so special exept THAT (you now, the cutscene at the elevator)... it is the weakest part of the game i don't know if is too short or too "uninspired", something like that...
