Whoever voiced and did the model work for the character EDDIE should win a freaking award. No jokes. That scene with him in the Toluca Prison was probably the creepiest thing I've ever experienced in gaming in decades. Not scary. Genuinely super creep. Just wow. You can SEE the dementia in his face. His voice. It's unreal.

Eddie is the 'sleeper hit' character of the game, partly because there's no controversy about his looks (since he's male), and he also isn't the main character.

Agreed. They did an amazing job with him. Good facial expressions and voice acting.

Eddie and Angela both have excellent voice acting. In my personal opinion, the weakest of the new cast is probably James, which is kind of ironic since he might win an award for the role.

I'd say the weakest is Maria, I'd say all the voice acting is better than the original excluding the OG maria/Mary who was so good they should have just re-used her. Eddie is such a massive upgrade from the OG though

Honestly there was never gonna be any competition with the original VA for Mary. As I said in the other thread, the Letter Reading at the end of the original game has to be the single best piece of voice acting I've ever seen in any piece of media. There was no way they'd top her original VA

If even the voice actress is moved to tears while reading, that's real passion for the role. Totally agree.

Don't get me wrong, the VA for Maria in this game is brilliant but I agree with you. The original voice actor was just flawless

I don't know man, James is great. The OG voice actor sounds like they just grabbed some random dude off the street in comparison.

Angela was expanded on the most thankfully. In the OG after the mirror scene you don't see her until after Toluca Prison. Eddie on the other hand not only can you see his slow degrading trust for James, his breath already cold in Woodside Apartments, but his eyes were full of life, and then slowly the eyes start to become quiet, his breath constantly cold, his demeanor becoming ice cold as well. It's a great touch.

I actually like the VO work for James now. He sounds like a "regular" guy that is trying to deal with extraordinary $hit. With the new James VO work you can see and hear that hes' been alone for the past 3 years. He's distanced himself from others. He's isolated and lonely and it shows in the way he speaks his dialogue. It's pretty good honestly. I also enjoy the way the devs made him super hesitant to jump down the black holes or stick his arm in the holes in the walls.
