What is the most logical ending?
Out of the 3 main endings, which one is the most logical? I think Leave ending is the most logical one.

Water ending as I see it fitting the character's arc the most.

The worst devs could ever do to a character like James is a sequel, lots of horror games fall for it, like the moment character goes through hell and in a sequel he is back at it. It ain't a horror anymore, but some action movie, but they do it mostly to attract audience back and not a proper storytelling I think.

For example Dead Space 2 would work just as well if there was no protagonist from the first game.

I liked the open endings, but then SH4 came to ruin it, Fatal Frame 3 did the same for FF1 and FF2 sadly. SH3 kinda too, but I forgive it because Heather rocks.

his father is in the 4th game, and he states he disappeared after going to silent hill, so its safe to say leave ending never happened, just seems weird to me that he forgave himself and started to heal for what he did and he never contacted his father, and nothing is ever mentioned about laura, which she is supposed to leave with him in leave ending.

In Water - I'd also want to die if I had lost someone as smoking hot as Mary

This. According to the director and James voice actor Guy Cihi (OG SH2 game) the In Water ending is canon.

I love all the endings except Maria one but the most logical one has to be either In Water or Leave

Also worth noting we don't actually see them "leave" in the leave ending. They just vanish into the fog.

Either after you first meet Maria or just before entering the Society building, if you continue running up the road that leads out of Silent Hill you'll find another James corpse with a note that says "I can leave by not leaving. I can ONLY leave by not leaving"

And yes the word 'only' is in caps in the letter, it's also underlined

I've covered every inch of the map to get every doc, etc. and noticed this one as well which sure is telling. Also, when you start the game you can try to leave the town by turning back the way you came. You'll get a "No turning back now" achievement but you cannot leave. Your fate is sealed.

There was a few games in the past as well as some indie movies that inferred that once you take that first step into the venus fly trap there is no escape no matter what you try. Your fate was sealed and there was no hope for you. I wish I could remember the title of this one game where you are a professor checking out an urban legend where there's this cursed shack in the forest. I don't remember if it was haunted or a witch? The actual "best ending" would be to play the game in about 2 minutes. You just get to the door but never open it and go inside. Instead you turn around and never look back and that was the intended "good" ending. Once you opened the door and went in, the endings you would find would all be bad endings.

I think another thing to consider is all the other characters you find along the way in the game. They are also all caught in their own personal hell and cannot get out either. Seems the only true way out is to die. If you do get the Water ending the actual achievement is "Only Way Out" and I think that pretty much seals the deal.

The most logical ending should be whatever was logical to you, really. For me, it was In Water.

In SH4, when you check the picture frank sunderland (papa of james) gave to henry (sh4 mc), you can see the text "I got this photo from Sunderland, the superintendent. I heard his son and daughter-in-law disappeared in Silent Hill a few years back..." making In Water ending canon (or the UFO one lol)

Yeah I don't think he ever leaves. I also really think Laura is not an actual little girl but an extension of Silent Hill. Remember when this game came out the only other game in the series was SH1 where a phantom little girl who was a hospital patient played a role too.

James takes her corpse with him to Silent Hill. It's canon and you can see it in the back seat in SH2R, at least in NG+. It could mean any of the endings are canon but it also means James never gets out.

Most logical ending is the one you like the most.

The only one that wouldn't make sense would probably be the Maria ending. His whole point is that he understood what Maria was and got over that.

Every other ending is probable minus dog ending

I wonder if Laura was born from Mary's wish and represents the child she and James never had, just as Maria is born from a wish James made.
