Brookhaven vs. Alchemilla
There's nothing wrong with the new Brookhaven. It's actually pretty spoop.

But I can't be the only one that thinks that Alchemilla Hospital was 10x creepier, right?

Well, probably the atmosphere that the first game have was more terrifying for a hospital and with more reason because THAT hospital and the alessa nightmare's projection. The whole place beeing more red than the gray of the second game and the deep hole on the floor plus there are not "hot" nurses, there are doctors and nurses with parasites in their backs and that concept was more scary and really cool like if they're zombies... Always the hospitals are the worst part of the silent hill games. In the 3rd I have a bad time at the brookhaven. Hope we can see Alchemilla again.

SH1 vibe just hits different.

I feel like not enough games in SH lean on the cult nightmare projection and go too far into SH2's "Guilty/crazy protagonist" angle.

the original brookhaven was scarier for me because it was darker. but i love how the new brookhaven looks, especially during the part where the sunset is shining through the windows. nightmare alchemilla is scarier than nightmare brookhaven and the opposite for me for the fog world versions in the original games.

For me, Silent Hill 1 was scarier than Silent Hill 2 in general, I dunno why. Probably I was just scared as a kid or probably PS1 graphics hit differently

sh1 original compared to sh2remake is like playing sh2remake but with tunnelvision.

you are so limited in movement, camera and vision that you feel much less in control of the situation. i dont think any modern game can rival the feeling a game like sh1 original puts on you.

the limitations the game had to deal with are a benefit to it. even with the thick fog in the remake you are much more oriented than sh1. also and that is maybe more of a subconscious thing is that modern games are most of the times fairer/better balanced.
sh1 is not a hard game but so many systems were new to the player and we didnt knew what to encounter. at the time games like this were much more of a mysterium.

sh2 remake at least to me was while being very good at it, just another modern third person shooter survival horror game with better sound design

remaking sh1 is much more of a challenge than remaking 2 imho

Original SH made me have a panic attack in the basement area. But remake2 did a good job with the narrative and atmosphere too.

Alchemilla was a lot more dynamic. Brookhaven just has normal mode and scary mode.

I was 16 when I played it for the first time and it was genuinely scary if you hadn't yet been jaded by thousands of horror movies, but it had grreaaaaaaaat vibes.
