Edit: I actually just reached the Lakevew Hotel and surprised that the achievements only available for 4.9% players means 95.1% buyers of the game aren't reached that level yet.
I haven't finished the game either.

Majority of gamers have over 700 games on Steam and most of them buy games as a part of their collection, they also tend to play multiple games simultaneously.
The game is also very heavy and unnerving unlike other horror games and it's taking people longer to finish. For example, It took me 4 months to finish OG SH2 9 years ago just for one ending. It's not a Resident Evil fun type of action-adventure that majority of people can play 9 hours in a one seat.
Another example, currently I am playing 7 games simultaneously and 4 of them are live service ones so I have fewer time to play SH2R (in which I currently have only 5,7 hours). SH2R is a single player game so there is no hurry. There is nothing suspicious, people just have gigantic libraries.

You pretty much described me! Although I wish I had 700 games! I have gamer ADD. I have started so many and finished so few. Not because “game bad”. I just like to play a variety of games and I’ll get an itch to play something so I shelve one for the other. So I may have several achievements but not the ones near the end of the game. This is likely the case for lots of people. Let’s not even get into how many games I or others own and have never launched. Ha

Maximum total player count is not a sales number. It has never gone under 10k players at a time and get up to 20k every night. Always someone saying 23k players at once means that only 23k people bought the game. Resident Evil 7 also had a lower peak concurrent players than Silent Hill 2 remake.

Your arguments have been surrounded by the factor that sales matter. This will 100% be seen as a failure on the expectations board. hell even I'm disappointed for the future of the franchise now. Hopefully they can find a way to port the old games somehow. Very anti-climatic to say the least.

you're joking right? RE is a whole other BEAST compared to SH lol RE2, Rev2, RE8 is even better! lol RE doesn't make a bad game. Just less preferred. I like Silent Hill i'm just not a fanboy of any game. That ♥♥♥♥ is weird when you try to make a game or music part of your personality, it isn't you, did your Dad make Silent Hill or something? Otherwise you have no reason to be upset by statistics and opinions lol I better not be catching you playing RE9 soon!

Stop getting riled up, I was only asking a question. Just I disagree about RE games having better stories. I know RE games are more popular in the West especially, I am not stupid. Silent Hill games have always been niche.

Some of us have jobs and social lives that don't allow us to play 5 hours a day. I'm also not rushing through. I had the game 2 days early and just reached the prison.

RE 7 and RE Village are already better than Silent Hill 2 cuz it's a continuation of Ethan's Story and it's a story about family, and a better horror game and better gameplay as well, better sales too, lots of GOTY awards too. :)

game takes like 20 hours to beat if you're exploring every nook and cranny, most people have lives outside of video games and it'll take them weeks to beat it.
