Silent Hill 1 Remake When?
I mean... Why did they remake 2, but not 1? Why make this choice? Does anyone know?

Was Silent Hill 1 maybe a very bad game or something?

The original Silent Hill is FAR from a bad game. It is, in fact, a cultural icon in game history and the very beginning of Silent Hill becoming a huge franchise. My guesses for a remake of 2 would be either what others here have said about Silent Hill 2 being the most popular game with fans, or the fact that Silent Hill had already had a remade by Climax int he form of Silent Hill Shattered Memories for Wii and PS2. I didn't particularly care for Shattered Memories though, I too would love to see the original get this remake treatment.

God I'd love to see SH1 and SH3 remade in this same way. Hell SH4 too.. just give us all the OGs in glorious high def.

I absolutely love the first Silent Hill game. Possibly even might be my favorite in the series. However, I believe that Bloober Team said they weren't comfortable with remaking 1 or 3 because they don't really do cult stuff, which while I think is weird, does lend me hope they might make a Silent Hill 4 remake next. And I'm a huge defender of Silent Hill 4.

Not at all, but Silent Hill 2 is definitely the most popular game since it was released for PS2, Xbox and PC while Silent Hill was a PS1 exclusive. If you want to play it there are ways to emulate it :)

The fourth game also has cult stuff, so if this is their stance they probably won't remake it either. Honestly, I'd like to see a remake because the game had some cool ideas but also flaws which could be fixed. I still recommend it to people because it's an interesting game.

maybe in the sense that it isn't healthy for you, sure. sh2 i wanna say is therapeutic compared to sh1. shattered memories was literally a therapy session about processing playing sh1.

I'd love to see a Silent Hill 4 remake. Might make sense to make it after Silent hill 2 remake since James' dad is in it.
i think thats the next game they might remake because there's tons of references to it in this game. not to mention, similar to sh2, its a disconnected story with references to the 2nd game rather than a direct sequel like 3 is to 1
Silent Hill 3 definitely needs a remake for next development project.

I thought I read an article long back of the developer of SH2 saying that this is the last horror game they're going to make, that they don't want to do another after this.

I want 3 next but unless they dramatically change the story structure it wouldn't make sense to get 3 before 1.

We literally just got 2. Next is probably 3.

Literally can't have 3 without 1, the entire plot of 3 depends of 1.

Found an article about what I recalled reading: Bloober Team is done making psychological horror games

It sounds like they aren't abandoning making horror games. They just finished with a certain type of horror game. So, they could make more SH remakes.

“This year is like closing the era of making psychological horror games,” studio co-founder Piotr Babieno told Engadget. “Right now we are going into Bloober Team 3.0, making mass-market horror.”

Bloober is not abandoning horror as a whole, but it is shifting focus. Over the past decade, the studio cemented itself as a powerhouse in the realm of psychological horror games, releasing the Layers of Fear franchise, Observer, Blair Witch and The Medium, all of which generated terror through narrative and environmental cues (otherwise known as “vibes”). Because of these design choices, Bloober games have jokingly been called “walking simulators,” a description that Babieno didn’t deny.

Babieno first approached Konami in 2015 with a proposal to make a Silent Hill spin-off game, something completely new in the series. The conversation stayed alive for four years, and finally in 2019, Konami invited Babieno to Japan for a meeting.

“Almost the whole management board came to the meeting, and they requested us to prepare a pitch for a Silent Hill 2 remake,” Babieno said. “And whoa. We were so afraid to touch it. We understood from the first day of the conversation that we will have half of the world which will love us and half of the world which will hate us. We are touching something sacred.”

Other studios were in the running to handle Konami’s secret Silent Hill 2 remake, but Bloober got the gig. Konami made the official announcement in October 2022.
