Unreal Engine Crash before game startup

I was able to play the game before and beat it and got new game plus, but after this most recent update whenever I try to start up the game I get an unreal Engine error and the game crashes. Or if i try to start it persistently, I get a black screen and wont get to the red KONAMI screen. Is anyone else having this issue? I can run the game as an administrator in my files but I don't get any of my saved data.

the only way I fixed it was by adding the command '' -dx11 '' in the steam launch properties of the game. you won't be able to enable RT tho

I had to do this but once I changed at least one graphical setting, I relaunched the game without -dx11 and the game loaded and compiled shaders. works fine now.

1. Go to ...\steamapps\common\SILENT HILL 2\SHProto\Binaries\Win64
2. Run SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe as administrator once (it should launch, saves will be unavailable)
3. Close it
4. It will now run through Steam normally with your saves intact

Attemtping to launch SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe as administrator also results in a crash.
Still in search of solutions to bloober's incompetency.

this worked for me. I launched the game in dx11, changed some settings and didn't crash anymore

None of this works. Event Viewer is telling me this. Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iigd_dch.inf_amd64_7e6488fd378ffede\igd12um64xel.dll


What does this mean? Windows 11 won't allow me to download a replacement .dll of that file, says I don't have permission.

To clarify, I tried running it next under -dx11 mode, and it worked! Even got to the first save point and saved. But I am still not able to launch it normally. igd12um64xel.dll is still causing my crashes.

I had this issue when I first launched it, all I did was restart my pc and it started working for whatever reason.

got it to launch and now my saves are gone awesome, I wasn't that far in but still kind of annoying

Unreal Engine had a kernel crash on the first launch, but it worked after perfectly fine.

Funnily enough, in-game it had no issues, but once I exited the game, it decided the crash the same way.
