Why oh why do people insist on using all and every stupid tech fad there is.. is beyond me..
Just drop the "frame gen", it's a stutter mess and adds NO ACTUAL smoothness and adds input latency..
Just follow some optimization guides to get some decent settings, I'm easily getting over 60FPS on a 3070 with a 5800X3D with RT on, RT reflections on windows mod, RT reconstruction, etc.
You sound angry and jealous. Its understandable because your 3070 can't do frame gen.
The only way you're getting 60+ fps with a 3070 with ray tracing on is at 1080p coz it sure aint at 4k.
Yes, 1080p, that is my monitor's native resolution.. I care much more about FPS than I care about resolution.. It's because resolution can't give you anything worth the money compared to the performance gain when you're talking about INTERACTIVE media.. I care about latency and common sense, not about the "bigger number better". What you gain in clarity at an arm's length away, you lose twice in performance.. and for what.. I can sit 1.5m away from my monitor using a controller and have the same exact clarity that you get at 50cm off your monitor..
Also, yes, frame gen only makes sense at higher FPS.. which.. DEFEATS ITS PURPOSE IN THE FIRST PLACE.. You're getting NO LATENCY IMPROVEMENT and NO ADDED SMOOTHNESS..
If you have a 4K Monitor that ALSO does High refresh.. 120Hz and up.. and need a GPU like a 4090 AND on top of that "NEED" to turn on frame gen.. well, that is HIGHLY INEFFICIENT..
Now if you want the bragging rights and have the money to burn and you want the bragging rights, well then just go ahead, knock yourself out.. But also arguing pro frame gen.. ? That's like.. Having a whole cellar for fine wines, but half of the bottles you fill with cheap beer just to have the bragging rights that your expensive fine wine cellar is full..
I'm loving 4k HDR gaming on OLED. And no, I don't " need" frame gen. in fact I never use it. I was just correcting misinfo. Enjoy your 1080p cope gaming though.
No cope here, I have never mentioned that I wouldn't like HDR for example.. Or OLED.
HDR.. IS a useful metric and enhancement to the image.. Still not as high on my list as performance, but definitely much higher than sheer resolution itself.
OLED is perfect to get those real blacks.. That would probably be even higher on my list than HDR.. But having to manage everything and getting the best results from a limited budget.. yeah, I'll 100% stick to my 360Hz 1080p IPS, thank you very much.
Would I want a 4090, yeah, sure.. Would I overpay for the gains tho.. Surely not.
Also, there is no "misinfo" about framegen in my initial reply. There are only facts.
It is though.. I've just said, it adds NOTHING to the perceived experience.. It does not improve LATENCY, which is the most important metric in an INTERACTIVE media and it does not add any PERCEIVED smoothness.. It only takes resources to display a bigger number in the corner of your screen AND introduce more artifacting.. THAT'S ALL framegen is..
Having a high enough FPS to not "need" frame gen, aka, "playable base FPS" renders frame gen USELESS.. It simply DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF ITS EXISTENCE in the first place.. It does not improve your latency, it does not add any smoothness and it is irrelevant when it has to work with base FPS that is not playable to begin with..
Arguing pro frame gen IS COPE..
Oh wait, you wouldnt know, your 3070 can't do frame gen.
