A remake of a 20 years old game shall not be GOTY when other developers took the plunge developing something new.
FF7 is a remake and will likely win. Nothing wrong with Remakes done right.
There's nothing new on this list. You have COD and a Dark Souls clone.
If there is another equally good game as SH2R I would agree with that statement. Voting for the new original content makes some sense. But I will not vote for some garbage just for the sake of voting for something brand new.
Also this is not some Until Dawn or Last of Us remake, where they just put some new clothes on a game that is already relatively new and call it a day and ask for $60-70. A remake of a 23 year old game (like SH2R) requires many things to be build from the ground up. SH2R is not just new flashy graphics, There is a different approach in terms of game design, level design, combat, environment ...etc...
A remake of one of the greatest video games of all time.
As for new games. What on the list has done something new and original?
So SH2 is my game of the year, but I didn't play Black Myth, though.
*Sigh*
You know what ? All of you are giving valid reasons.
I just saw the list of nominees and it's f****** abysmal.
I would also be tempted to vote SH2 Remake since unbridled innovation is a thing from the past...
It's also kind of linear with confusing maps and no sense of direction on some chapters. It's more like an action RPG than a souls game. Only the difficulty may match souls but God of war on the hardest difficulty can also feel the same.
"streamlined for powerplayers who can afford marketing"
starfield also was a "game of the year" according to the same people that wanted to sell it, even when for anyone that actually cares a bit of basic level of quality was aware how much it sucked. sure, that one was even more "raw" than this one (which imo is "half-cooked"), but still both share similar reasons to be less than what they could be and should.
Over 22k Steam owners rated the game positive. It has overwhelming positive reviews. Gamers love it, twitch streamers love it criticis love it.
You know who hates it? people who don't work, people who don't own the game. People who have never played the game. Just like you never played the other 100+ games you spam comments at. over 7k comments / 400 pages on steam screaming about DEI.
Maybe try going outside? working? playing games? or living?
Your entire post history is a tin foil hat obsession with a DEI or other rwing youtube grifter ideology and coming up with racist conspiracy theories.
