Silent Hill 2 Remake sales and budget
Is there official information on the game's budget? I already saw that the game sold 1 million copies in the first 3 days, but I want to know if the game was profitable or not, since an AAA game selling 1 million copies in 3 days doesn't really tell me much.

Silent Hill isn't as big of a series as people seem to believe it is. In total the series as a whole prior to this remake had only sold about 9 million copies. So this one selling 1 million copies in 3 days is huge.

OP came to the steam forums to check up on his stock investments??
Otherwise why do you care?

I wanted to know to get an idea if Konami was going to make more remakes or not, since obviously if the game doesn't sell well or "didn't meet expectations" there won't be more remakes. Having the budget it would be easier to get an idea and thus be able to compare it with other AAA games (I assume it is an AAA game).

oh ok, thanks for the info
You're asking the one question nobody besides those internally involved know.

We don't know the development/marketing budget.

We don't know what Konami projected.

We don't know current sales, other than that they are at leas 1 million in three days (current estimated numbers therefore suggest ~2.5 million to 3 million+ sales, as long as consoles sales didn't dip disproportionate to PC sales, but that's an estimate at best).

We do know the game was limited to the PC and PlayStation ecosystems; the Xbox gets it in a year.

We do also know that two additional Silent Hill titles, "Silent Hill f" and "Silent Hill Townfall" are in development. As is a movie.

My personal guess is that unless Konami was shooting for the moon with expectations, which I find unlikely but you never know with companies, then they at least probably aren't unhappy with current sales (plus future expectations), that is if they are around 2.5 million+ right now.

Whether that means we see another remake of a class, and whether it is Bloober that does it again, remains to be seen. We're all in "wait and see" mode regarding this.

Yes, I guess we can't do anything but wait, thanks for the reply.

Remake culture killed gaming hoping for Konami to remake others instead of porting them properly is criminal and cringe.

I hope they never port the games just because of you

I have yet to hear any rumors about them working on anything with Konami at this time.

They themselves have said they have moved on to work "on other projects" like the one shown above.

Any rumors being spread is entirely from hoping fanbase of this remake.
