IS it just me or does the game really start to overstay its welcome by the time you get to the prison?

Part of me feels that way, it's mostly because of how oppressive the atmosphere is and the fact that the game doesn't even let up for a second from the moment you enter Brookhaven Hospital.

Before that you spend some time with Maria around town wandering and exploring and moving about. Next moment you're in Brookhaven and the game goes pedal to the metal right until the end.

Not really I enjoyed it and thought the pacing was good, although some areas tend to drag on a bit too long imo.

Honestly though you can't complain about more content lol, especially if it's as the content consistent as this game.

There is some down time in the Toluca Lake area after the Labyrinth

For me its when the game really picked up. The atmosphere of that level is what i was looking for in a horror title.

Yes.

what do you mean? you mean the atmosphere in a hardcore survival horror game is making you uncomfortable?

If you get caught up losing track of where you are and how to get to new places in it, it can seem that way, especially as dark as it is. If you use the map though it becomes much easier.

At the prison and just getting warmed up...

sometimes it felt like it and i was also thinking that usually games that i've played are already done at that point.
then i was like "but i really don't want this to end".
/never played the original so didn't know almost anything about this

It's after the prison that I got this feeling.

I'm afraid it does. The remake prison is a mixed bag and I think the original is one of the best locations of the Silent Hill franchise. Too much enemies, mannequins become even more tiring and it's too long. I apreciate the effort of this version, but Silent Hill and saturation aren't a good mix.

It was at the prison that I was getting exponentially more annoyed at their puzzle and maps structure. I thought it was neat how in blue creek the clock puzzle was expanded. Then I get to the prison, and it's the exact same thing, but so much more longer. It was just too much for what I wanted from silent hill 2. It took me over 20 hours to complete the thing.
