i installed the 1.04 patch and tested outside neely's bar and the performance was basically the same as before the patch. so for now it's a nope for me.

This is also my experience. I have an i7-12700H, 32 gigs ram, SSD, and a 3070ti (laptop version obvo) and it runs very poorly.

I tried to refund it but I had 5 hours in the game and got rejected. sucks because most of that time i just had the game on in the background while looking for ways to fix the stuttering and best settings guides. I must've messed with every variation of settings DLSS off/on and different resolutions and frame rate.

Nothing fixes it and the horror is totally ruined when you break immersion like that.

I didn't play the original series so, this is my first exposure to the game. A very poor one at that.

Ill just wait for a patch, this game deserves to be played with better visuals

Game runs fine on certain settings but then at random moments my fps will drop like crazy for an entire minute before randomly going back to normal.

Lol, it does sound like that, doesn't it? have the new chip = bad performance. Have old chip? UE5 games run like butter or decently.

I guess if people want to run this and other UE5 games without much issues, make sure your chip is old.
looks like it. i can play the first descendant at max settings without any stutters. besides some latency drops here and there, the game as such runs great.

The port is terrible, guys. It's time to just accept it. Blame UE5. Game is great, but the port is a mess.

This...!
For an immersive game, with no open world, it shouldn't have released in such a bad state...
How do u immerse yourself in this world when u have fps hiccups so often...
It's not far from Dead Sapce Remake performance "badness"
They're all here, shader stutter, traversal stutter, fps drop and... bad frame pacing!
Every Bloober game has these flaws...

im gonna save you some time get a refund and keep an eye on patch notes if they ever are able to fix the stutters in this game i can tell you no matter what hardware you have you will get traversal stutters it's not your pc that is bad trust me it's the coding in this game and the stutter engine called unreal engine 5 very few games run smooth on this engine it's a known fact and it's been like this for many many years

The game is stuttering even with 7800X3D. Nothing can be done about that unfortunately. That being said, your CPU is holding your GPU back. A lot. Even mine 5800X3D with mine 4070 Ti cannot keep up at places.

I don't think The First Descendant is as spec heavy/demanding as Silent Hill 2. They are both Unreal Engine 5 games, but Silent Hill 2 asks for more than TFD (minimum spec wise)

"TFD
Minimum:
OS: Windows 10 x64 20H2
Processor: Intel i5-3570 / AMD FX-8350
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050Ti / AMD Radeon RX 570 / Intel Arc A380
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 50 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD Recommended. VRAM 4GB or above.

--------

Silent Hill 2 Remake
Minimum:
OS: Windows 10 x64
Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K | AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 Ti or AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 or Intel® Arc™ A750
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 50 GB available space
Sound Card: Windows Compatible Audio Device.
Additional Notes: Playing on minimum requirements should enable to play on Low/Medium quality settings in FullHD (1080p) in stable 30 FPS. SSD is recommended"

Don't know what the mega difference is between the two for one to run fine for you while the other does not. Could be SH2 Remakes lack of optimization? not 100% sure. They should ask how they got TFD to run so good lol.

Triple buffering works only in OpenGL.

You should EASILY run it above 100FPS using DLSS3 at 1080p@MAX. 80FPS+ at 1440p@MAX. Stutterings only here and there when things are being loaded.

Anything different from that is just not working at it should.
Nonsense. This game has constant micro stutter. It doesnt matter what your hardware is. It's playable, and a newb could see past it and /or chalk it up to their config, or not know what they are seeing when it happens, but it's there.

Try to disable vsync ingame and enable vsync and triple buffer memory in nvidia panel.
DLSS ON -> ULTRA PERFORMANCE
RTX ON
60 FPS
With this i don't have any stutter with a 4060 on ULTRA graphics and UPSCALE 200%
Nvidia drivers 565.90
Don't give out advise when you don't know what you're talking about. Triple buffering does nothing for 99% of us with a VRR display. In game Vsync should be off ANYWAYS.

Thank you all for the support. from all the comments I feel like maybe its my CPU having issues(possibly idk) I have issues in other games as well but idk. It is a pre built haha! I know I know, please don't crucify me lol. I use a good SSD. Im so disappointed with this one since I've never played a Silent Hill game and I was looking forward to experience this on my youtube channel.

also, my cousin played this with a MUCH lower spec PC and he played through the whole game and said it didnt stutter for him at all. Idk just kinda weird.

It doesn't have much in common with the original games. The way it feels.
