The 'Boat" sequence before the hotel

Game has been great so far as i have just got to the hotel. I was not too sure what the boat game play was about. I rowed in the direction of the light and then back to cut scene. I felt like more things could have happened while on the boat in one scene that could have been some quality time in James' thoughts. He also didn't look like himself in that short sequence, for some weird reason he looked way diff from the cutscenes

It's literally the: "Go outside" for a bit case.

If you sit in the boat for 10 minutes and don't touch the controller you get an achievement. That is after you get control of the boat.
