if the original historical context of silent hill 2 was more or less the early 80s, or even late 70s, since the technology available in the story seems to reflect that (casette recorders, land phones, 4:3 aspect ratio tvs, and so on; plus original devs commented sometime about that), the likelihood the ingame "health drink" (or whatever you call them) probably wouldnt taste like any early 2000 or later energy drinks (which often tried to emulate both redbull and monster drinks).
I those years, irl, there were hardly mention of energy drinks or similar products. the closer stuff would be body building stuff. in night clubs people more openly and more frequently consumed cocaine, which also relates to gang culture of that era (and classic cia + druglords bs).
so, my bet would be they should have a more artificial flavour closer to some old soft drinks, or maybe even some medicines from that era, which were nothing like redbull or more modern drinks (since energy drink werent a fad, or even as mainstream as they became later).
