- Hey, so want to make a Silent Hill 2 remake.
- And what is you selling point?
- We want to make combat clunky and boring on purpose! Just like the old days!
- Awesome, you are hired!
You people live in an alternative reality if you really expected it to go this way.
- "We want to ruin all the characters and involve our dei consultation firm with the remake."
- "We want to remove all fear and survival horror aspects from the game and just make it as close to RE4 as we can."
- "We will get Ito involved with the game but not allow him to make any decisions or implement his suggestions."
- "We will have Yamaoka remake the original soundtrack of course, because without him involved, NO ONE would have even cared about this remake or The Medium for that matter."
Yeah, this reality is so much better.
Not only that, the extremist hatred allowed here only for their PR team is obvious. They really think people can't see who's allowed to start and maintain flaming and trolling people even behind blocks?
Even worse they rehired that horrible manager from Konami who forgot the streetlights and the ENTIRE team could not stand and NEVER did a lick of work on the project.
You know the one with the ridiculous superstitious problems with Ito's work, as another example, he was PERFECT for Konami to use with a consultation firm here.
Sure, the PH fight has some fancy new mechanics but it does absolutely nothing to enhance the fear of that fight, in fact, in that aspect it's even worse than the original somehow. It's almost comical in a way that the area is so big now and James can now dodge like he is an action hero and freely run circles around PH, so much for being scared of him and the Otherworld anymore.
I can't deny it, the fear is not in that scene, my action meter is all hyped, like Imma get me some RE:remake, but that's not what i wanted for Silent Hill, let alone, 2...
The fear was in that tiny, confined, stairwell, where he could grip my throat if I stood there trying to reload too long, because back then I wasn't gonna use a menu, the thrill and intensity of that experience I had to do it in real time..
I hope if they've added a ton that the original smaller areas are still in the game at least, but that's just my hope right now, I don't have a copy, but it's very uncomfortable not having a demo..
Yeah, who needs Silent Hill 2 when you have the much superior Silent Hill Homecoming!

Not another example. The West Balkan DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 performed very poorly on Steam. The DLC card expansion has been on the market for quite a while now, and Fame has slipped from satisfactory to very positive. So from the reviews. I think it will be the same with the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2.
Even when a remake of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1-2 was released, it was rated rather negatively. But now it is very positive. And the game is definitely worth it. Give silent hill 2 remake a change first before you plan from the start that the remake will fail.
It’s main inspiration is Homecoming. But it takes the worst aspects of other games too. The horrible QTEs and grabs from Origins, and the stun lock roars from Downpour.
It’s accidentally taking the worst parts of games that fans already don’t like, and shoving them into one of the originals where they don’t belong
ever made.
So much that it never even got released in Japan
