If SH2 was on PS2, it would probably be seen as a practically uninprovable classic if that happened
So get a job and get a decent pc, or playstation 5 to get the game....not that I would say it's worth it for this game.
I wish I got to play the game as early as all you guys since you all already know its a bad game. smh effing doomers everywhere.
And I won't buy this game, or rather I can't buy the game anymore, neither for my Playstation 2, which I still own, nor for my PC. I found Silent Hill 2, the original, on Ebay. But that's (imported goods) even behind it. It also costs €59.00 + €7.99 shipping.
That is too expensive for me. At least I found it on Ebay. And at Amamzon you can taste the game for playstation 2 for €36.98 and it says used. I've had a few bad experiences with used games.
I recently bought silent Hill Homecoming for my Playstation 3. Also used, and the CD could be read very briefly, I could see the start screen, but when I wanted to play, the CD started making strange noises. And an error message appeared on the screen. I asked the seller for advice and he just said I should reset my Playstation 3. I did that too. Silent Hill Homecoming Read Still doesn't start. And now, because of the seller's tip, I'm even allowed to play my games, including Silent Hill downpour, where I was already very far along, and almost at the end from the beginning. :( I didn't find it very great either.
Sega 32x or Sega cd ports would be great.
Its not so much a bad game, as it is a bad story. When this released, people expected it to follow Harry again. It wasnt until a while later people realized what they were going for with the story telling.
The big thing you have to remember, was back when this released, among MANY others, game information on the internet was a completely different thing as to what it is now.
It is NOW... I guess I wasnt clear enough when I said that back when it was released, so my mistake.
When this first released, it confused people. The only thing that connects this to the first game, is the town itself.
Now, with all the added lore, yes, its become a better overall story. But Silent Hill followed up by the second directly, makes no sense.
Granted, I dont completely remember the end of Silent Hill 2. So there might be something im simply not remembering, and will find out when I play through it again.
But you also forget it’s called SH2. As the second game of a series, it had no obligation of being a direct sequel. It’s not like the series has a reputation for one continuous story.
If anything, 3 is the exception. As 1, 2, and 4 are mostly self-contained
Thats kind of what I was pointing out. This had a similar effect that Secret of Evermore did. People bought into it under a different thought process. Granted this is the buyers fault in the end, but at that time, as stated, the internet didnt exist as it does now, so finding any information about games in that era, was hard.
Secret of Evermore to explain a bit more, was using the "Secret" title to gain followers from the Secret of Mana series. When people found out that not only was it not connected at all, but an entirely different system, people got mad. It has its valid cult playerbase, but overall, it was a badly received game, that was responsible for killing a game company.
Keep in mind, this was the mindset then, which has changed due to lore expansion since that time.
As for missing context, Im sure I will recall a bit better when I run through this again, currently, I cant even play the older titles, because they are just too dated for me personally.
Same will happen with Solid 5 if it hasn’t already.
An example of how “more of the same” can be done in one of the worst ways is SH Origins. Gameplay is the most generic “SH” you could get where the best description if “forgettable” and “ok”. That’s ignoring the story, where even the writers of the game admitted that they did the best they could with a bad situation and it didn’t turn out good.
