Xbox version Restless Dreams is quite good too. Controls are a little clunky but can be remapped easily, and in exchange it has slightly sharper textures/resolution than the PS2 version and better load times.

i played that version too, it came out on pc...
but still the enhanced edition is the GOAT and well worth playing even if you know every inch of the originals.

The ability to save anywhere on the PC version ruins it for me. That and the bug where saving with a button press automatically refills your stamina. Too easy to abuse.

For me the original ps2 version is my preferred just for nostalgia of back when sony was amazing.

Why not both?
PC port with the fan remaster mod is glorious.

That depends.
Are you looking to play an actually good game or one made by incompetent devs trying the "fix" what was offensive and problematic in the original?

PS2, PS3 HD Edition, and the PC versions are all better than this DEI infested slop.

Silent Hill 2 PC port with the Enhanced Edition mod makes it up to snuff with the PS2 visuals if not a little better in certain areas like the assets. I do however prefer the color and contrast in the PS2 version to the PC, but all the interior sections with the flashlight and night stuff make it impossible to see on a modern display without ruining the gamma by turning up the brightness. The PC version fixes that. I'd say play the PS2 version if you have a CRT lying around still
