Everything looks so fake here
The Angela scene looks so lifeless, from her face to the background. In the original, the entire scene was filled with fog, then the music hits, Angela emerges. The whole cut scene was a dream-like scenario, something out of a David lynch movie.

It seemed to me they had enough money only for Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito ; but they couldn’t afford to hire Takayoshi Sato to make the facial expressions mysterious and uncanny. Somebody who actually cared about the characters.

It is amazing, every time the western developer got their hands on a silent hill franchise, they just recreated the silent hill 2 with the story that basically rhymes Let’s go to the famous trauma town . All of them stunk, but now finally Konami lets them recreate the 2nd—which these western devs love so much— and they messed it up. Even with the blueprint, you can't even bring the magic.

Thank you Konami, for adding advanced editions and in-game items. Thank you for not trashing it, I can’t wait to see people wearing a rabbit or a dog hat and talking to Angela on the stairs. This tells me how much you care about the franchise and the characters.

I hate remakes with passion, as they tarnish the old ones. Thank god silent hill 2 is not on steam, or it would have gotten the Resident Evil 4 treatment, where they named the original Resident Evil 4 (2005) and renamed the remake to simple Resident Evil 4 instead of the other way around. Indirectly, removing the OG to replace it with the new one.

To quote James after the replace ending -- You'd better do something about the cough.

F*** this industry, silent hill was a game, but now it is a product.

Yeah, Angela's first scene alone is ruined.

Comparison OF THE ACTUAL ACTING here.. https://x.com/really_username/status/1796311053133136265

After that, I just facepalmed this entire situation, and I am terrified of how it will finally turn out, even if some things were impressive or not, the WHOLE package is missing here.

If you want to be even more clear.

Compare Angela holding the knife in the original, with the brief flash of her holding the knife now.

It speaks for itself

Angela also sounds like a dude, not a woman.

Another thing that ruined the game for me is when James enters the apartment, the warm sunlight coming out of the window, which is logical but, who cares, it did manage to kill the cold desolate vibes of the original.

It would have been better, if there was a crack in the window, and then we see fog coming through it, spreading the dread.

Her look & even her voice itself isn't even her major malfunction, her behavior is. It's not off and weird in any regard whatsoever like she was ORIGINALLY, and comes off as fake, until the Abstract Daddy scene.

I didn't even think of this, but it works in the game, I do like this and it fits with the actual theme of the game.

These visual changes affect the whole psychology of the game too, it is meant to gave that atmospheric dread and tension you could cut with a knife, this game just looks like it's a hack job that does not want the original meaning of the story to show. Which is James's journey of redemption or damnation for his past, and their losing all of the touches that made it feel genuinely creepy.

There shouldn't be anything bright in the game, it kills the vibe of the town. That's why seeing the flash light on mary's dress was an eye opener, a ray of hope, even if she is dead, she is helping james.

Yeah, if they add darkness it will help, the fog effects are already a nice improvement, but the game can't sell me on the nostalgia of the environment alone, they better follow through with better acting from these characters in important scenes before I'd be able to get into it, too.

I do understand, though I also know for myself the behavior of these characters determines first whether I can even believe it is them, then the aesthetics come in. Also, yes, the combination of all the things is how it flows. It's just for me, Angela fit a lot of body types and people I actually know, but her behavior was absolutely unique. That's what I'm meaning here.

This game looks really, really bad dude.

They turned Laura into Philomena Cunk. How could they do such a thing?

Dont feel bad for Konami.

Team Silent actually wanted to make an SH5, but Konami kicked them out in favor of Western devs to match the movie.

So they're getting exactly what they wanted. Threw out the original devs before they could finish their next plan, and replaced it with much lower quality imitations.

There were multiple canned SH5 attempts by Team Silent correct? And now we have more fake SH games than real ones heh.

I mean, Konami did say, we hope the game is as good as the movie. So we know where the priorities are, the entire game idea feels like a promotional material for the movie.

The reason why the OG worked, is that they hired some randos off the street to do the voices and acting. They were never the professionals with IMDB page, that's why the game's acting was bad but yet, very strange to say the least. EVERYTHING HERE IS DELIBERATE CHOICE BY THE TEAM SILENT.

But now in the remake, the professional actors are trying their best to act bad or uncanny, which is impossible because they are professionals. The HD collection, also had the same problem with troy baker. In the OG, bad actors were just trying their best to do the scene. Guy chi's voice and emotion worked in so many levels.

I've seen some of his interviews, his voice and mannerisms are an exact copy of James. Professionals don't give out the vibes.
