Trying to make sene of it all...
Why do they re-release Silent Hill 2 but not remake Silent Hill before doing that ?

Don't forget that it is konami, not Kojima Production or just Kojima involved.

Remember that they killed one of the biggest franchise of its genre (other one done in by Ubitrash).

Remember that they then took a dump on this franchise with 3 re-releases with no work on one making it almost unplayable.

One word - REmakes. Do you want me to continue the logical chain from here?

I get what a remake is but you'll need to start making sense...
I'm not going to stick for a sterile argument, go on...

Well it’s widely regarded as the best in the series. That’s probably why.

Once this comes out, it will no longer be unless a lot more of the game is done right, but carry on.

You missed his pun.

REmakes, as in Resident Evil Remakes.

Which is true, the only reason this exists is because RE has been doing well and Konami know SH2 is popular.

So it’s a cash grab intention, with devs that are trying but completely miss the point of many parts of the original

OK. Konami's main argument of closing Team Silent and ending Silent Hil lseries as we knew it was the money i.e. games didn't sell to Konami's management expecdtations. That was WAAAAY back in 2004. BUT! Konami did begin to hand out the license - outsource - to many low profile and small western developers (yes, Double Helix, devs of Homecoming, was a pathetic shadow of Shiny Entertainment and The Collective wasn't the creative behemoth even back before the merger, so to say), just to make a profit. That culminated in a disaster which was Downpour because old fans were already turned off from the franchise and new comers were turned away by game's unbearable "quality" or lack of thereof. Somewhere after DP's release Kojima began the talks with higher ups in an attempt of proper SH resurrection at the hands of Japansese studio itself which culminated in success BUT only on one condition : MGSV being a smash hit. The rest you know. So Konami officially buried SH. Fast forward to 2019. Resi2 remake blew everyone out of their boots - a resounding success, smash hit, millions of sales. Questioning eyebrow hurricane started to knock on Konami's door, people saying "WTF, look at how Capcom handled classic games, how they respect their roots", etc. And Konami being greedy ♥♥♥♥ like they are started drowning in their own saliva, especially seeing those almost 5 million Resi3 sales by the end of 2021. They understood that modern consumer will eat everything considering the cheap abysmal slop which Resi3 remake was and Konami was finally convinced that they can milk nostalgia for cheap, deciding to jump on that remake train. Resi4 remake sales probably caused a few heart attacks in Konami's executive offices although, SH2 remake was already in works by then. So here you go: Konami decided to hand around SH license AGAIN, outsourcing it for cheap, in exchange they get to milk the legendary status of original and studios working on SH titles get SH title in their resume no matter the end result. This is crucial as this what it looks like from Konami's top offices. Guys like No Code won't allow themselves to make a cheap slop or to milk the status. they may actually produce a decent game. But not Bloober. No, sir, Their horrors are mediocre at best and they cannot properly handle such title like Silent Hill 2 which cannot simply work today as everybody who even remotely touched horror video games today at least heard about it and the most important thing - they know about what exactly this game is and how it work. Therefore it's intended experience cannot be replicated. So Konami with this remake shoots itself in the feet without even realizing that, they only want REmake-like money. And they will fail. Resident Evil game were never about psychological horror, they were and are something entirely else. And Konami fails to realize that - this is way it ALREADY is a failure.

Yes. His question was about why Konami releasing SH2 before even attempting SH1. The answer is (and was answered many times on this forum, dunno why you won't browse older topics) - SH2 is the most popular. Konami wants to milk game's legendary status. SH1 is less known though equally as important as SH2, but it's status being locked on PS! to this day contributed to Konami's decision. Even Crapcom released the very first Resi1 for PC way back in 90s but Konami always held special contempt towards PC in their hearts until REmakes came up, PC users being the most profitable audience for the publisher.

I got that. I liked 2 and 4 but 3 was more of an insult than anything. You can see similarities with those...

They killed Metal Gear; Metal Gear Solid (and shat on it); Silent Hill (and shat on it); Castlevania and Severly f***ed up with Resident Evil and Contra !

When will it be enough for people to react to that ?
They always and i mean ALWAYS end up ruining ALL they touch.
This company needs to change but it likely won't happen.
About what they ruined : Probably too late.

Wake the **** up everyone !

I don't think so.
A lot of games are terrible, that never changed and is subjective.
I did not notice an increase lately. Only the usual trash and a few games nearing perfection.
