People see pretty graphics and they losin their mind
But lets adress how bad melee combat still is. Shooting seems fine but i can get how people dont see how melee combat looks so bad and uninpactful. Like wtf are we doing here? Is this some ps2 era game? Not impressed.

Silent Hill always had bad combat system and that's ok. Except for Homecoming, and game is garbage (Except for the enemy designs)

Well, Downpour is from 2012 and combat was still trash lol

It was serviceable but not the main focus, just like every single other SH game. Combat isn't the main focus of these games anyway.
The SH protagonists were always Average Joe's, not GI Joe's.
SH is not RE

You don't understand survival horror or why silent hill controls were as they were. We've had this discussion countless times already. Do better? Like making a game that is supposed to make you feel distraught in every conceivable way suddenly turn you into Bruce Willis?

Graphics and animations aren't tied together.
I've seen some great animation work in otherwise low-poly/low-res games. Animation plays a big role in making a game feel good to play. Despite looking like a pixelated mess, even the original SH made sure beating a downed enemy with a pipe has weight to it.

Unfortunately, no they can't do better. Because that would ACTUALLY break the spirit of the game. More so than all the rage baiting, whiny trolls coming out of the wood work on this forum have declared. And let's say they did change it drastically. "Oh look Sweetbabyinc made this happen, now it's nothing but a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RE Clone where you can move while you shoot, and parry like you're playing Dark Souls. WOKE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥." On a serious note, It's meant to be as close to the original as possible. And I'd say they accomplished it with the new camera angle.

How would polishing the combat and making it better ruin the game?

Couldn't name ya the last good AAA game. Maybe RE2 Remake?
