They are the original creators of this game, who tf is bloober? Gtfo you posers.
Now: "Wtf, Blooper's not changing anything enough and wanna keep it closer to OG? It's so over"
Y'all need to make up your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minds. You're only NOW saying this because Ito said so in an interview. idc for Blooper and certainly never played any of their games but y'all act comedically hostile towards them sometimes for no reason
Shattered memories was NOT called Silent Hill 1 because they understood and knew this much.
No one has issues with new games, just call them new games.
Otherwise, be faithful to the title it is unless adding to the genuine lore and world, things that belong there.
PERFECT example, if they intend to add build ups of characters to get to who we know they are, and they handle it well, that's a good thing.
Another example, if they added changes that only COMPLETELY change the characters they were, and story, it's not the same game and needs a new title for this new direction, simple.
Surprisingly enough, the dislike for this varies depending on the individual.
i dont think so... we have been tolerant with bs, but also scammed into tolerating it to help preserving "their illusion".
FIRST: Am a fan of the Original Silent Hill 2 - no Remake in the world will change that.
Get your point.
Sad, they both have to hear all the negative response for things they didn't mess up- they didn't program the new game, but created the franchise, beiing involved since day one. Does anyone know their opinion on this discussion...?
Here are some thoughts for you guys (-all of you that read this little text):
WHY is this "game is woke" even a thing for you guys??!!!
I DON'T CARE IF ANY STUDIO DESIGNS THEIR CHARACTER's CRAPPY OUT OF SOME STUPID WOKENESS IDEA OR IF IT WAS COMPLETELY THEIR OWN DECISION- what difference does it make? Cut the woke debate, please. it's just clickfarming and train-hopping.
This whole debate is just another pile of [youknowwhat]... towards the two great man, mentionend above.
talking about beiing disrespectful and arrogant (towards the old creators)...
no offense, just think about it:
calling the game "plastic woke wannabe" ist disrespectful and arrogant towards the people involved in the new game. the actors, bloober team, even Akira , since he willingly decided to create another score for this title (implements that he at least had good hopes)
The old game still is cool. The graphics kinda match the time and vibe, so does the character design. Story...unbeaten in the SH Universe. -my humble opinion ;)
How do you copy that vibe without copying that?
Bloober (-or any other studio) didn't had the slightest chance to get it straight from the beginning. on top the million different expectations from us, the community, the fans...
That doesn't mean that the New Game is bad, at all.
Story stays the same, basically.
Some new things added, changes hopefully don't collide with the vibe...
sure, graphics "better" than 20 years ago... not very hard to achieve ;)
helping the immersion? we will see.
I am interested what the new SH2 will "feel" like, sure,
but the Original will always be number one for me, no matter how great the remake will be.
My advice:
If you like the old lookings better...play the OG? (I still do)
LAST: surprise
I like the new character-designs. LOL
Seriously: what's the problem with Angela looking like a normal person would look like?
Some "reality check" is highly needed - especially in times "looking too old" is a thing, where we are told and tought to "look like insta-flters" and not to have any wrinkles, or not to weigh too much, etc*... all this debates here - the existence of my text too, shows that this is needed so much.
*Maybe this feels normal to you, because you're used to it since you were a child.
If you know growing up without smartphones and (fast) internet, YT etc. you know what I mean. Here's where "old and young" need to have understanding for each other's point of view, with respect. We don't have to agree in every point.
We could just talk about what we like and dislike about the game without ranting and cussing, using trigger words...instead it gets toxic fast ...
with almost every other topic it's the same. That's not a "SH2 only" issue.
Sad.
So, come on guys. Try to understand each other and chat with respect.
In the end we all love Silent Hill for what emotions it spread in our hearts -
don't let it be hatred ;)
The thing is, no one wants to deal with abuse, being mocked, and attacked endlessly for simply wanting their favorite game's legacy preserved.
You cannot blame people for just walking away more and more. However, you can certainly blame the publisher, and the remake team if they completely ruin it.

I don't really know what there is to feel bad about it. As a game developer they initially wanted to do something like FF7 Remake and not a mostly 1 to 1 remake with some additions here and there.
It just sounds like people here are taking things super out of context and just running with conjecture.
FF7 'remake' should be renamed, FF7 part 2, problems solved, multiverses covered, it is in fact slightly different, though it wasn't anywhere near as serious of story to begin with and did get a bit mixed up along the way even moreso, but the themes are in another universe comparativly.
Additions are fine is long as correct lore is presented. it's the removal of the deeper meanings the original aesthetics had where it wrecks the story and narratives. Then still calling it the same game after replacing the original actors with people that seem to not understand the characters they are playing.
NOT to mention, that is the VERY article where he completely forgets there are streetlights in Silent Hill 2 because he hasn't played the game in so long, and should have ESPECIALLY if working on a remake.

Angela literally looks fine in every single other footage except the Toluca graveyard scene
98% sure all who only talk about that part of the remake and how woke it is have never played SH2 and only here to ragebait. Actual SH fans talk about remake's various aspects and how it improved/missed the mark on the OG game, not just blabber about a 2-second shot of Angela saying "I'm not lying..!"
Only thing I'm genuinely disappointed in character design is of course, Maria (not just the outfit, the model looks weird). Everyone else looks great, with Angela just needing more polishing to the face, as it looks noticeably less-detailed than James'
