Silent Hill never had fixed camera, in a way RE did.
SH1-4 was 90% chase cam in the overworld, interior corridors and larger rooms, 9% semi-fixed cam when entering smaller rooms to prevent camera clipping into walls in tight quarters, and 1% fancy cinematic transitions you could consider a RE'sque fixed cam.
i'm honestly surprised this thread even exists. Claiming that SIlent Hill only uses fixed camera angles is quite ignorant. There is even a button on the gamepad solely reserved to manipulate the camera. I think these people either never even played a SIlent Hill game before because they just heard about the series and think its just a RE clone, or they concept of fixed caera angle is just wrong.
In fact, the camera is slightly tilted to the player's shoulder in the originals when you're running through corridors, so you can see the monsters:

Yeah it also used fixed camera angles to troll you as well in certain areas been a while since I have played so I can't recall all instances of it this is something you can't do with over the shoulder also I think fixed camera is a lost art in my opinion.
Even in the first game you could control the camera with the L2 button. Compared to the pre-rendered backgrounds of Resident Evil, Silent Hill was fully 3D and totally took advantage of that.
I wonder how you managed Resident Evil 4 as that game uses both OTS camera angle and tank controls lol
By who? :D I have already heard this claim about the fixed cameras style. But by who is James being watched? It´s not like there are surveillance cameras all around the place. :D Actually, the only person who is watching James, is just you. So you are being scared of you?
Because it worked in the other games. All they would have to do is put the cameras in the same place it was for the original.
