Yeah indeed. There's nothing dream like, disturbed, or uncanny about the voice acting. The voice acting just sounds like people reading lines from a paper. That doesn't bring any kind of eerie feel to the game. Maybe to some people, but all Is that voice booth.
A good voice actor be directed to be awkward and they will pull it of convincingly. This isn't that.
Yes, there's dream-like, disturbed and ambiguous quality about the voice acting. Unlike this generic, quavering 'overly emotional' bland acting.
Yes and? Remake VA clips being bland don't make original SH2 voice acting good.
I never said the original VA was 'good" in the traditional sense? It's NOT good, but that's what makes it perfect, it sounds surreal, perfect for the tone of the game.
Sounding like someone is reading lines from a paper is pretty much the polar opposite of surreal to me.
Guy Cihi's delivery lacks any self-awareness and 'ID' of most actors and performers, it's a really nuanced tell, when they try to puff themselves up and 'ACT', his performance is comes across as genuine, free of ego inhibitions, even if it's the result of lack of 'talent', it still creates a charming and memorable performance that's a perfect fit for Silent Hill 2.
That is Silent Hill 2’s original VA. It was kind of laughable. At least this new VA sets the tone in seriousness.
Missing the point entirely.
some ppl dont even know what franchise this is
Yeah you think the cheesiness of the voice acting is what made it Silent Hill. But no, it didn't.
I think you're missing the point. The game is meant to be scary and have a serious type of tone. Using actors that sound like they're reading off a paper doesn't set that tone.
It's not the original game anymore, it's a remake. Does it need the original cast or voice actors? No. Learn to accept change. Just because you're stuck in 2001 doesn't mean it should include the original voice actors.
