GTX 1080 for a minimum?

Still use my 1060gtx atm, new cards are way to expensive and i have to save money for the winter and energy costs. I hope the development takes a while maybe i got a new card until then.

I wonder if my 1660 super will be able to handle it regardless. I know the GTX1080 is much more powerful but sometimes games are playable under the minimum requirements.

That said, I think I had never seen a game with such a steep minimum requirement before. I've seen some that have the GTX 1080 as recommended, but that card is still pretty powerful by today's standards even with its age. I don't think that many people actually have better cards than that. I think even the RTX3060 which is a very common budget choice isn't as powerful outside of having ray tracing, let alone the 3050.

Almost all Unreal Engine games are poorly optimized and if the graphics are really what we saw in the trailer you can be sure that the game will require a powerful GPU. There's still a lot of time until the release of this game, I recommend an upgrade until the day comes.

I'm going to upgrade my i5-3470 + GTX 1050 Ti + 8gb DDR3 for an RX 6600 XT + Ryzen 5 5600x + 32gb DDR4. Silent Hill 2 is one of the best games I've played in my life (and there are only 2 games on this list xD)

VRAM is mostly important just for the resolution. If you're playing on a 1080p monitor, 8GB of vram should be more than enough. Even at 4K those 8gb will most likely be enough though could get memory issues in some games. 4K will probably work better on the 6800xt but you won't be able to enjoy RTX technology which is something I probably wouldn't sacrifice (especially since you can use DLSS to increase performance at higher resolutions).

Because of Ray Tracing performance, I saw lots of games have lower tier Nvidia GPU paired with higher tier AMD GPU on recommended because of that.

I hope I will be fine with 3070. I want to skip 4k Nvidia cards and wait for next gen.

If you buy a new card i would go above 8gbyte vram and take at least the same sice of ram which new consoles (like ps5) have.

we all have time to upgrade before it's out.... I game in a MSI gaming laptop, sadly, I have a 1080 in my laptop, so I basically won't be able to play the game if I don't drop cash on a new computer before it's out.

On the flip side though, I've been dying on this old brick for a while, essentially the excuse I need to buy a new gaming laptop, I really want to avoid desktops, but they're the most affordable.

the RTX3070 at 2K will probably run pretty smooth, especially if you use DLSS

The "recommended" requirements seem odd. 3600X and a 6800xt/2080 just to achieve only 60 fps at medium settings at 1080p? And only 30 fps at high? That's even steeper than cyberpunk. That would imply that even a 3090 would be hard pressed to achieve 60 FPS on high @ 1080p, let alone at 1440p without dlss.

Playing on recommended requirements should enable to play on Medium quality settings in 60 FPS or High quality settings in 30 FPS, in FullHD (or 4k using DLSS or similar technology).

Edit:

In hindsight, it could be due to ray tracing being enabled but it isn't clear whether ray tracing is being considered as part of the requirements. If it's for non ray-tracing then it's mind boggling that high settings cannot achieve 60 @ 1080p because it would mean even lower fps(sub 30s) if ray tracing is enabled.

I gues my gtx 1080ti worked well 4 this game. The ti is quite better as a rtx 2080. Whatever i am fine with it!
