Question regarding the person you offer shelter to in the Caves
I'm not too far into the game yet but I was wondering if there was anything that was supposed to happen with the person that you offer shelter to in the caves once you reach the half way point shrine? I assumed this would unlock another town NPC that would match their description, but as far as I can tell it didn't?

Could someone fill me on if I'm missing something here? Is this just meant to be something in relation to the overarching story instead? Am I missing something obvious? I've since beaten the caves and moved onto the the town but when I go back to the caves and reach the half way shrine I'm met with the same scene again so I'm inclined to believe that it might be a bug.

That's the witch. The beginning of the game, the Amulet tells you that you are a priest, you helped an old woman, that old woman was a witch, she killed your congregation and burned down your church, and now you are chasing after her for vengeance into the pits of legally distinct Hell, where your church and it's charges are currently trapped in as well on accounts of being dead and not great people.

Thanks for the clarification! I thought that might be the case and figured if it was it would be confirmed whenever the next story element came up if, if it's in the game at this point. At the same time it's good to know as without that clarification it was a bit frustrating thinking that I might have been missing out on a NPC/shop.

So, in the demo, you could recruit the Haukland merchant by giving him 2 dog eyes. You can still get the membership card from him, but he is not currently active at the church anymore. Disabled while the devs rework things like Charisma and the overworld.

Inviting him was scraped, you can no longer bring him to church.

soooo what do you do? The only options are to provide shelter, you can't ask any questions. Are you just supposed to like...kill her?

They are memories, flashbacks of before since you lost your memories when you crashed you car at the very beginning of the game. The amulet says(also at the very beginning) that collecting a lot of the blood fountains power can power it up enough to change the past or send you to the past.

I think it all makes sense put together, my hangup is really just the fact that it repeats every time you revisit that shrine.

If the devs come across this post and are looking for any ideas on how to track memories they could do something like a corkboard in the church that gets populated with simple notes/photos that track each scene, possibly with some sort of replay option upon examination that takes you back to the flashback.
I think the reasoning behind including that is pretty good as your character would be trying piece together their memories and it's a good physical representation of that - or they could make it more abstract and fill the walls of the church with iconography that represents those memories (might not fit with the direction of the game).

You can already replay the cutscenes by revisiting each shrine.

Not really a great implementation though ngl.
