Can we have ability to change swords like items or weapons ? With prons and cons similar to how weapons work

Different weapons with different effects, damage and attack speed that you can find on a run would be a cool addition.
Or, as an alternative: maybe have the melee weapon be a meta-progression that you unlock options for in the church so there's something other than the stash and getting new levels that you invest in outside of the runs.

Yeah a full melee rework and extra throwables would really mix things up. Adds a bit of shadow warrior to the retro blend. Reusable throwing knives are also pretty high up on my "I really wish that existed" list, and would fit a melee perk nicely.

Plasma sword would definitely reduce drop chance to 0% :wangwithit:

One thing that *must* be fixed is when holding the melee button again while the swing animation plays, the gun should *not* ready itself, that makes multiple melee swings so awkward! if I'm pressing the melee button, while in a melee animation, my intent will always be to melee again.

You're just missing the timing, dude. You can definitely swing another time right after the previous one, but if you do it too soon, the gun unholsters and the second melee input is lost

I would love a long handle and blade:
Longer reach
Wider slashes
Slower movement and ready time

If we did get the ability to equip different melee weapons I think it would be cool to see some defensive options too. Perhaps a shield that deals little to no damage and slows you down but absorbs a percentage of damage while it is held out or maybe a blade that, if timed right, could reflect projectiles.

OR a sword that can slice enemies that are mid-air in half (Gory and effective)

Should Bunnyhopping work the same way? Because right now it works as I proposed: press the button again before the action completes to perform the action again at the end.
