Wait, I thought this game would be a single player campaign experience. This feels like it`s developing in the complete opposite direction. I fear I`ll loose all interest in the game, should you go down the "test yourself vs. other players in meaningless skirmishes" road. I dont need to derive my selfworth from competion vs. people I neither know nor care about.

No worries. It is a single player (campaign) game still. You can just enjoy your campaign and no need to take part in the Warfront League.
I agree with r-cane. You should focus on making more campaigns, more missions, etc.

But anyway - how do we even play this Warfront league? I don't see any option in the game menu to play "Warfront" or anything. How do we take part in this league, please? You did not explain how we play this.

this is a cool addition. extra stuff is never bad. it doesnt encroach on the main campaign and story missions so I see no harm in it

And how can you be sure about that? The hours of programming work for it dont appear out thin air, do they? So, they either make this game more expansive when it comes to extra development cost (and time) or they are substracted from other parts of the game. The later would be "the harm in it".
It`s the developers game, so they can set there focus however they like. And they have said it still will be a single player campaign game.
That being said, I have seen SOOOO many early access titles that took a wrong turn during development, either because of miscalculation (of funds and or development time) or loosing sight of what brought players to their game initially.
I guess I will hear how the game turned out upon release.

Hello r-cane have you played our game yet? Did you know it was officially released in November (not EA) and includes a single-player campaign that is not short. This is additional content for those who have completed the campaign. Based on what you’re saying, I get the feeling you haven’t played our game—am I wrong?

Creating even a single solid mission requires approximately 2–3 people and at least 4–6 weeks to develop one original game level. Once the level is created, you can’t just throw it into the campaign.

You've probably seen a lot of early access games, but from a development perspective, you're comparing the incomparable. Our game is not in early access—we're improving it to ensure the best possible experience for players while also delivering some new content.

Skirmish mode is for those who don’t want to replay the entire campaign but just want to sit down, launch the game for an hour, and choose specific enemies, maps, etc.

Warfront League is a skirmish mode with a monthly ranking system. Players receive rewards from us and our publisher provides them with a game from its portfolio.

We utilize resources as efficiently as possible to enhance the gaming experience for players and deliver game content.

Hi, it`s weird that your username isn`t green if you are actually the devs of this game. But let`s give you the benefit of the doubt, especially since it only matters to a part of the reply.
So, first of it`s great that the devs activly respond on the forums. Cudos for that.

That being said, I heard about the game from a friend about half a year ago. Since we kind of are into the same games, we talk about games every now and then. It took him a little while to start playing it (because he has almost as much games in his library that are unplayed yet then me), but when we talked about it a couple of weeks ago he said that while the gameplay itself is fun it took him not even 25 hours to play through, what there is of story content right now and that it feels like the game would need more time to get the content and polish it should have for that price tag. Hearing that, it made it sound to me like it was still in the development phase, and not the finished product.
25 hours is what I needed to play through "X-COM: Chimera Squad", which is in store without a discount for only 20€. It was also a game that felt to short for such a game, but looking at the price tag it was okay because it felt more like a X-COM snack experience instead of a full meal, but for a snack price. Your game is in discount right now, and costs more then 50% more then Chimera Squad. Maybe that`s a me thing, but for 30bucks I would like at least 30-35 hours of ingame content. Not senseless grinding, not fetch quests (that`s more a rpg problem and not yours, I just mention it because I want to make a point that I feel games in general get bloated with stuff like that these days to generate more game time), real content. And you are right, I haven`t played the game myself yet, because I trust my friend when he says he played not even 25hours and in general had fun doing it. It means to me, that if the game stays the size it is right now, I wouldn`t feel like I got my moneys worth. And playing the 2 hours you can play to test a game before refund makes no sense either, because it seems to be fun (at least to my friend), so I also trust him there.
Which is why for me it all comes down to, will the game get another 5-10 hours more story content added to it or not. This for me is what decides to buy it or not. And because the gameplay seems to be fun, this is also why I`m frustrated a little to see that instead of doing this (for a single player title), instead development time seems to be invested in something I expect from a MMO game. It kind of feels like when Mass Effect 3 added the whole Multiplayer shenanigans, when most people would have gladly gone without that if that development time would have been put into making a better ending.

Hello r-cane. Chimera Squad is 5 years old. Our game is 3 months old. After 5 years our price will be different too. No worries. So besides that, I see your point. On one hand we feel happy you care so much. Tahts nice to see. On the other hand our colleague is right. Making new missions and additional campaign is very "human and time" cosuming. We are a small indie team, so our options are limited. But if there is something new we can bring into the game alltogether with fixes, tweaks and improvements, we will go for it.

I just want to add one more thing – Chimera has been on the market for 5 years, but the thing is, the development before 2020 indicated that the final game prices would be better than after 2020. Then came the pandemic, which extended the development of every game, and we are now in a period of crazy inflation combined with the global situation. Honestly, I can assure you that if your expectation is 30+ hours of campaign play, you'll be pleased to know that the average completion time for a campaign on one difficulty level is definitely 30 hours or more. We have three difficulty levels, and each one includes some extra features. We have players who really enjoy the game and have spent 100+ hours on it, even though our game is not about grinding. We have a lot of ideas, and how many of them will be realized depends on the game's sales dynamics. We can definitely imagine story expansions, but those would require months of development, which is why I responded when you mentioned that the programming hours could have been used differently. We actually used them effectively to bring something new; for story expansions, programmers alone aren't enough, that's on a whole different level, which is why paid DLCs are created, and if the sales are really good, there may also be free story updates. If you really like the game and support it with a purchase, let me know how long it took you to complete the campaign. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on your gaming experience! :) Have a nice day.
