I am baffled by the camp. No idea how it works. The "tutorial" is greatly inadequate
I got to the camp for the first time, and the tutorial gave me some simple messages, but nothing explaining EXACTLY how each building in the camp works. I am at a loss as to what to do here.

I REALLY want to love this game, and I'm sure I will once I understand what the heck is going on in camp. But as of now, the camp tutorial barely explains what is going on here, and what we are supposed to do.

Very frustrating. I sure hope you greatly improve the camp tutorial very soon, otherwise I'm not sure this game is for me. It's just frustrating to complete the first two battles, then get to camp and have absolutely no idea what's going on here.

It's pretty self explanatory for the most part. The hospital allows you to treat soldiers wounded in missions or sick with disease. The cook tent allows you to cut down on overall food consumption by 'cooking meals' for the men as well as providing a slight morale buff. The armory allows you (with a weapon master recruit assigned) to repair weapons damaged during training or combat. The radio station allows you to contact the Allied nations for various support as well as connecting with allied spy network for various support. Gun range assigns recruits to weapons practice to build weapon familiarity and level then up without the dangers of combat.

Check your morale indicator (top of the screen). It tells you what bothers your men and thats the best way you can manage your base. The rest you will find out soon. No worries. Just check the morale indicator.

Thank you for the responses, folks! But I am still so confused. All I have done for almost a month is build a hospital, and I think I healed some guys. But I don't know if I did it right. I chose a doctor, then I chose a patient. But what happens now?

Also, I see in the morale button that I need showers and food and toilets. But I have no resources to build them. I use the radio to call the different commands, but I don't know how this works or what I'm supposed to do. They sure haven't sent me anything in a month.

So, I'm stuck unable to build the things I need according to the morale list, showers and toilets. So, I pass time which doesn't seem right as time is wasting and I'm sitting here doing absolutely nothing. No new missions show up. I don't know how to send people out on patrol to gather the resources I need to build the things I need.

Why is this so complicated? I cannot WAIT for the improved, extensive and comprehensive tutorial to help understand this obtuse interface of the camp.

How do I get more missions? Isn't this a combat game? I did the two intro missions, and now I'm stuck at camp unable to do anything, and no more missions are showing up.

Very confusing. Very frustrating. There has got to be a better tutorial for this, as I'm completely confused and ready to give up and refund. But I want to understand because the game seems very promising. Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi!

You will get some missions as the time goes. No worries. You can speed up the time while waiting. But send your men on expeditions as much as possible meantime. As for the building resources, you will get a special missions for that. You can raid enemy warehouses and get the building resources from there.

Hmm. Ok, well I waited over a month and no missions showed up. I don't think the real soldiers in WW2 had to wait over a month between missions.

Also - how do you send dudes on expeditions, please?

Are you still planning on improving the tutorial aspect of the base section of the game? It is still quite confusing, when it shouldn't be.

Yesm we are working on better tutorial every day. And you say you didnt get any mission in a month. What month is ingame now? And you can send your men on expedirion with that button you can see at the top right corner of your camp. And in case you dont know, on the top right of the screen you can speed up the time while you are waiting fo mission or return from expedition etc etc.

Fro, I'm in the same spot. The hunting expedition is on cooldown, I built toilets so that I can't build a medical tent, and now I'm sitting here watching days go by.

As a resistance fighter in an occupied country, I did not expect "idleness and lack of Nazis" to be my biggest problems. :)

Hahaha! Yeah, happyhuman, it's a very strange game mechanic. Go to camp, do nothing for days and weeks on end. I can't wait for them to really explain how all this works. It's very frustrating, but I think there is a really good game in here somewhere, once we can get past the rather confusing camp interface.

I built a medical tent first, so I can't build toilets or showers or anything else because I don't have any resources, and I'm not getting any missions either. I'm just watching the days go by like sands through the hourglass.

That brings up another point. How are we supposed to effectively use the medical tent. It looks like somehow we have to select a doctor, and then select an injured soldier, but again it is very unintuitive like the whole camp interface. Argghh!!

It really isn't nearly as bad as you are making it out to be. 1. The answer for the time between missions is, when you are running a resistance you need to be incredibly picky and choosy about the objectives you take on and the missions you go after. You can't just take the fight to the *overwhemingly* superior enemy that has you surrounded on literally *all* sides at every opportunity. You're team is waiting for high value targets to go after in an attempt to get the most out of their efforts while making sure the camp stays protected and hidden. As to the medical tent. Make sure the Staff tab is selected. When you see a soldier in the list that is open that's not red, you can assign him as a doctor. He'll then be ready to help heal wounded and sick soldiers. To assign a wounded or sick soldier click the patients tab. Click the wounded or sick soldier. Hit assign. He'll take up a bed. That's all you need to do. How you are finding this so difficult I just don't understand but hopefully that helps a little.
You'll get missions in time. You'll get warehouse missions in time that'll give you the resources to start building some upgrades.

Sure the tutorial could most definitely use some tune ups but the UI isn't impossible to suss out.

Thank you for the comments, Targaryen. I guess I'm just a dim bulb, because it was pretty confusing to me.

Nah I didn't mean to give that impression lol. Like I said, the tutorial could definitely use some fleshing out especially as an introduction to the buildings and their functions/how they function. I just hope it helped clear up your question

Thank you. I do appreciate your comments. Every little bit helps. I guess I just need to keep plugging away. The fact that I was just sitting on the camp screen, watching days go by with nothing happening was really bothering me. Plus, I didn't know how to send troops on expeditions, so nobody was doing anything.
FroBodine Nov 26, 2024 @ 7:53pm
Well, hell! No wonder I didn't know how to do expeditions! The "Expedition" button is barely on screen at all. It's way at the top, and halfway cut off. I can only see the bottom half of the button, and it is almost the same color as the rest of the screen and VERY hard to see.

Please fix this.

Yeah it took me til nearly my first winter to really suss out the expeditions myself and I had to restart the campaign because of it lol.
As too the downtime between missions, I built the Gun range. I just assign recruits to train in between, they level up that way and build weapon familiarity with the assigned gun so they get more accurate and I *think* it may cost less AP in missions to fire them as they become more familiar. Not 100% sure on that yet. the only meh thing with how the gun range works is the ammo storage but I get it. Keeps you from accidentally using up all your ammo for those weapons.
