Upcoming Changes: Blocking Multi-Client and Improved Dungeon Drop Rates

Yeah KR can still multi-client but its just harder to do thats all, like someone said before you just use a VM instead or another PC and i dont think having more than 1 laptop is really out of the realm of possibility for KR players who have a work/home/travel setup probably lol. Either way the idea is enough to make this a good update cuz its not just to us its to all servers we're just getting it last cuz thats how mabi updates always work and im all for it! lowering reward costs for events while also increasing dungeon drop rate loot? no complaints here can finally be able to craft the things deemed too expensive because abysmal drop rates and enchants might not be a Lotto anymore :summercat2023:

to be fair, any dev, no offense to nexon, can say they're "increasing drop rates" to compensate for removing or doing *anything* but increasing a .01% droprate to a .05% droprate or anything in the same vain isn't ***really*** solving the issue. "we made the rate 5 times higher!!" yeah i bet.

and back on the issue of multi-client, once more, i am currently multi-client on runescape just chopping trees and i doubt any other osrs player would complain that they either 1. have less logs than me, 2. have more logs on the market or 3. see one more person with a similar name chopping another tree.

The major issue with multi-clienting/botting/etc is GOLD GENERATION. Too much gold generation in the market can INFLATE costs. best way to solve that isn't killing multi-clienting but addressing the overall issue with gold generation, gold expenditure and rewards in general. an MMO's gold market needs to be properly maintained, look at New World's market, it crashed due to gold inflation.

It would be nice to see MMO devs fix this issue because it is getting to the point where it's not even worth playing their games anymore... except for the cheaters. (I'm talking to YOU too, SWTOR!)
Good! I have been playing an honest game for years now, but more importantly I want all of our personal information and account info to be safe. It sounds like the team is doing a good job to stay on top of all of that. It is embarrassing that this happens and you have to find ways to work around it. All in all it's a win for the players who love a fair game and have worked hard to build their characters without resorting to cheating! For those of you saying you need a "reward" for not cheating please realize that is exactly what this update is! While I disagree that you deserve a "reward" for playing a game fairly the increased dungeon drop is a fairly good reward for all of us. I'm hoping that a few quest items will be included on that list. The North American servers need to quit acting like entitled brats and start showing more appreciation for the team that is actually hearing their cries for changes to the game. There aren't many games out there this old that are giving a rats about the opinions of their players nor their privacy.
I'm hoping that they take into account the VPN users or people who buy services to create VMs on different IPs if they take a look at the network packets for multi-clienting.

I'm actually glad that multi-clienting is finally getting more addressed, but hope that there'll be stricter guidelines on it like removing items gained during those certain periods or temp bans to permanent if continuously caught.

Hii everyone!! I'm so thrilled you're discussing this so much, since it truly gives me a good idea of your perspectives regarding the announcement!

As for VPN concerns, we do have an official notice regarding that found here:

New World crashed within a fraction of Mabi's lifetime.

There is no solution that solves gold generation that multi-clienting doesn't abuse, outside of removing gold or making it a exclusive to npc usage.

Mabi is a game that has a history of various anti-botting techniques including the puzzle bombs (bring that back for the memes, just toss one into someones pack of newbies)
Well.. Better late than never I guess? I have played Mabi for about 6 - 7 years and I've never touched a 3rd party client, mods, or used more than 1 account. I've literally never gotten a good drop from a single dungeon I've ever run. YES! This is a MASSIVE problem with your game. The current game state is one where literally only people who have either spent 1000 - 2000$ on either selling store items or supporting horrible 3rd party gold sellers and people who cheat have the end game gear. I recently got a few friends to start playing Mabi and they're baffled by the fact that my outlook on the game for years has been.. end game? That's not for us. That's only for whales and cheaters and tell them to focus on the mid game instead. This is simply because mid game is a realistic goal one can reach over a few years of dedication but end game just is not.

killing multi-client in-computer just makes it so people have to multi-client using virtual machine emulation or other computers and laptops. I myself have 3 PCs a steamdeck, 2 laptops and i could definitely VM my main PC and multi-client *that* way. Not that i've ever multi-cliented.

Lol, pretty sure it will just have a check in place that if x character of y account is on, then close x character if another character on y account logs on. It's not hard to implement a tiny check like that which makes it impossible to multi-client. And then if it's alternate accounts all they need is a check to see if a previous client's hash(the unique identifier of the program) is running, and to close it if another one comes up, they are going to be applying the same hash checker to the program files I'm almost 99% sure. Since they are saying "security" so much, that's what people in the industry do. Run that with IP's in the same area only ever getting on at the exact same time, and only doing certain actions aka dungeons etc. You got an easy detection system that makes it hard to beat.

I know it takes very little effort to change font, font size, UI spec and GUI resizing. Could we address the customization of this? as this is what 90% of the 3rd party clients address.

The game is ancient by MMO standards, i started on Mari back in G3 and would appreciate being able to change the font and GUI to fit my elongated curved monitor.
I couldnt care less about the multi-client stuff, they all deserve to be banned for all I care.
But when I use a 3rd party launcher is because your game has dogshít optimization and it requires some serious tune up to be able to play it.

When you do that, I will gladly disregard any 3rd party launcher.

Seeing as you mention running the game from Steam in your update, when exactly will you be adding support for Steam OS so that SteamDeck users can enjoy Mabinogi?
Glad steps are being taken, that's all I really have to say. I'm not the people working on this, so who am I to judge how easy their jobs are, lol. Wish people could focus more on the RP part of RPG, maybe then people wouldn't feel so competitive they feel the need to cheat
