Maybe I'm dumb but
it seems like this game is extremely buggy and not very well done to me, which is horribly disappointing because I was so excited to get into this game. I started as an Elf (which apparently you're not supposed to start as?) and after my introduction letter from Nao which I gave to the elf chief whose name I cannot remember, I did a quick combat tutorial quest where I killed some training dummies or something. After that, I was supposed to be given a second quest that is started by the healer in the town. I was never prompted for this quest and I can't figure out how to start it.

After trying to figure out what I was supposed to do and reading around on some forums and the wiki, I figured out how to quick travel and went to the other continent into the city Tir Chonaill, because I guess that's where you're supposed to start as a human. I started the Rescue the Villager quest, and once I defeated the Gianter Spiderling at the end of the dungeon, I wasn't able to talk to the villager at all, so I couldn't complete the quest.

Am I missing something or am I wrong in thinking that there's some problems if two very beginner quests don't even work?

Well for the first begginier quest you had issues, I believe taht one to be no longer used, and outdated. As for the second one, you dont have to talk to the villager to complete the quest, as far as I know.

Also it's fine to start as an elf, its jsut recommended to start as a human, due to being the most balanced race. not to mention you can get a free elf and giant card if you do so.

My advice? Try a different nation's version of the game. I've been playing since G6, and while every new patch adds a lot of fun and there are certainly a lot of rewarding and fun moments, the real issue is the developer. We regular Nexon gamers know that Nexon NA has rarely been good to us. Tickets take forever, updates are released in small bits yet are still buggy, they keep leaking somehow unfinished content and patching it later, and it's an incredibly flexible system that can be pay-to-win or not depending on how you play the game due to this. If I were you, though, I'd give it a shot and try to work past early issues like that. Hopefully you'll find, like I did, that if you can have patience for Nexon NA's mishaps, the game has some qualities that I can't fully explain unless you see for yourself, one of which being the immense freedom that lies in class going no further than race. If you give the game a shot despite its issues, I think you'll eventually figure it out. Anyways, as for the specific issues you had, I've never heard of or seen that before. However, considering not too long back, during the Genesis update, they completely rebuilt the first three mainstream questlines, one of the random leaks Nexon recently dealt with involving a headless naked entity in the jungle could have caused a conflict. That reminds me, the last thing I do have to say is that if you DO choose to give the game a chance, figure out exactly how much time you're willing to invest. Every mainstream generation takes at least several hours, and last I checked there's 16 of them, as I don't think 17 was a story generation. But to wrap things up, try and see for yourself what you wanna do. The game has a value to it, but it's certainly an acquired taste thanks to Nexon NA's lack of talent.

I've been playing this game since it's release here in America. I can honestly say that I would not want to get into this game with all the content it has now. It'll take you a while to get into speed, and a longer while to feel the real swing.

You don't have to talk to the villager to complete the quest. You just finish the dungeon. There are very clear walkthroughs on the wiki. Also, I'm pretty sure it is suggested somewhere that you should start out a human, if not it's unfortunate. Elf is so much harder. Been a human for 4 years and I still don't want to play an elf.

Delete your character and start again as a human. You get can get free elf and giant character using a human.

Why would the dialogue still suggest starting a quest even if it's been outdated and removed? That's really annoying.

If I deleted my character, will it let me make a new one?

Yep.

If you have no character cards, I think you'll get a new one after a while.

Okay cool. So I did get the Rescue the Villager quest to work, the wiki guide I was reading said you had to talk to the villager but you don't actually have to.

Would it be better to rebirth my character or just delete and make a new one?
Dinsignis Dec 9, 2012 @ 1:32pm
Delete. The other two cards can help you with space.

If your under 100 in total level, you can reset all your skills. Also, under 100 total levels, you can rebirth everyday. I think thats how it still works. It's been a while since I was a newbie.

believe exploration level count toward the 100 level as well.

Nah, exploration has it's own total level count.

now if it didn't count toward that. that means a noobie could just level up exploration 10-15 times than rebirth and repeat over and over.

You expect too much out of the game, it's a old classic kind of MMORPG that should be played in it's own pace, you do not rush it or you fail miserably.
