do I get to be a grown up at some point?

Hello,

I'm giving Mabinogi a try because I like sandbox games with no classes. I am not super crazy about anime, but I don't mind it too much as long as my character will someday look less like a ten year old girl (I picked a 17 year old boy, the oldest I could get).

I understand there is some kind of rebirth thing, but it sounds as if you go back to being 17 when you do that. Does that mean I will be stuck looking like this all the time? The rebirth mechanism is kind of interesting, but I want my character to look like a grown-up. :P

That is... most likely impossible, lol. The skin does not wrinkle, neither does it affect your ability to fight also. The only difference is the stats from 10 - 17 and the height. (And sometimes, some clothes will be age restricted. And maybe enchants.) People just change their age for height. People repetitively rebirth at age 17 so that everytime their character is at age 20. They are able to rebirth for free. You can probably look like an old person using clothes and such, but I'm not sure about anything else.

If you want a "grown up", play as giant. They are the most appearing adults in the game.
But you should still start as human because you can get as human 3 Characters while you can get as giant only one (the giant).

To simplify that, it's optional to start as a giant, starting with premium feature and looks, and they're the most mature looking characters. Although, starting as a human, you'll get the privileges of getting a free elf and giant card (No premium features though). Be warned that your clothing options will be limited if you go Giant. I posted something about it in the thread 'Positive and Negative of Mabinogi'.

Actually I don't like giants...
Maybe that's reason why I still don't got my free giant card...

But they look actually very mature.
But to get a giant card you should ask someone to help you to get to Vales because it is a pain in the ass to get there as human (cannot use Mana Tunnels at first).

you can actualy walk there using ice bridges and stuff it realy only takes a good 30 minutes without a flying pet which you get now for free

Ya if you want to look older I would also go for the giants. They are a little harder to play but can be alot of fun.
