Forgot elf and giant cards given for free when you make a human.
Noobs seems to go 'OH IMA BE ELF RIGHT OFF THE BAT AND PWN THINGS!"...
Or that they get 'excited' by pale skinned elves with pointy ears.
Adoration 8 ABR 2013 a las 16:30
Ahhh, thanks for the tip. I know I'm missing a few things, hahaha.
TheVampire100 9 ABR 2013 a las 10:10
Actually I have a lot of charaters even if I didn't need to.
But it's beacause I use this characters to experiment with skill combinations. I don't want to waste Ap on my main char so I test some skills on other characters and look how they work.

It's not a waste to buy character cards but since you can get 2 free cards you don't need to.
Another good thing is that I use other characters to develop Life skills to produce products I use on my main char, again because I don't want to waste AP for him.
And this works fine for me but I can understand if someone says he wants to test every talent on one character but it's hard to gather all the AP for this.
Adoration 9 ABR 2013 a las 18:12
Well, I see your point on testing and people don't want to waste AP on their mains. There's free elf and giant cards to do that too. Some people buy extra character cards for more money in the bank too. I think the limit is like... 5 million per character in the bank?
TheVampire100 10 ABR 2013 a las 10:54
Yes 5 million per char. But it will be rised to 10 mill per char in the next update. Maybe because some people don't have many charactercards and reach the limit too soon.
What me annoys is that some prices on the market are ridicoulous. Personal shops with the names "cheap" and "Saleout" are often expensive as hell. I can understand that some people want to sell a unique game item from events or a hard field boss for a lot of gold beacause it's so hard to get these items.

But seriously, some prices are just stupid. Some people sell basic alchemy crystals for way more gold than in the original shop.
The same goes for Holy Water. 20k Gold for a stack is a little much if you think about it. You don't have to do much to get it, I can actually do two part time shops with a life skill talent and I have a stack. So in my opinion holy water is overpriced but people still buy it.
This goes for the most common items in Mabinogi and it ruins the game for players who cannot achieve that much money.
Adoration 10 ABR 2013 a las 16:09
Well, it's still strategic if you think about it. Holy water is overpriced, yet, people still buy it. It's because people are lazy and they don't want to do church part time jobs for at least 4 minutes or so. People who do it most likely have the talent or time to be even doing this. Cause the more they do it, the more higher their reward is; means more holy waters when they complete. And I'm not so sure about Alchemy crystals being sold, haven't seen any yet. Shadow missions give decent amount of gold as well so money doesn't really bother them. Were in this generation where it's sort of easy to make money, although it's unfair for the beginners.

Be glad you weren't here during the Duping Crisis. 75,000 Gold per stack for Holy Water. And people buy it because they're too lazy and "can't be bothered" to do it themselves. I don't quite sell my Holy Waters for 20,000 gold. I stick around 17,500... and I still can't get a single customer...
Adoration 11 ABR 2013 a las 13:24
I must've taken a break from Mabinogi when the 'Duping Crisis' happened. Yeah, I remembered the time when Lileas', Nuadha's, etc got duped. Nexon wiped them all out, including the people who legit gacha'd it.

I'm not sure what server you're playing on if you're selling your Holy waters for that much. I think here in Ruairi, people sell it for 16,000 gold was it? Can't remember. Some still try to sell it around 20,000 gold. People are taking advantage of the free VIP to set up shops, been seeing Seeds(Homestead), Pots and Holy Waters shops from time to time.
TheVampire100 13 ABR 2013 a las 5:28
16k is still a lot of money for a very common item.
Adoration 13 ABR 2013 a las 6:57
It's easy to manipulate other shops or party ads, if someone's selling a HW for example, 22,000 gold a stack. If you were to sell your Holy waters for 17,000 - 18,000 gold a stack, it'll look cheaper if you compare it with that persons shop and yours. Which will tempt people to buy yours instead of theirs, which will drag them down. That's just my way of marketing though.

Sometimes buyers tempt sellers as well. Like party ads, '[B>HW/15k a stack] mail@me]'. If the person selling the Holy Waters is impatient and is in need of money. They'll give in to that offer. The same goes with dyes I guess.

I just wanted to say that I really like your information here and I'd love to pass it on to some newer players that I know. So many newer players get turned off right away because Mabinogi is very unlike other MMOs, those which leave high expectations for gamers on what an MMO should be. Your opinions for each server were humorous to me because as someone who has played a character in each server it's sad to say that, well, what you have said about them are very true to what I have seen. However, I main on Mari and I have met some very rude and ignorant people. Just as much as I have met very nice and helpful people on Ruairi. I agree though that most people are biased because they just hear things from other players and haven't seen for themselves! Anyway, again I really appreciate this topic you have made to express your opinions. Thank you!
Adoration 15 ABR 2013 a las 6:13
I try to balance both, but I get carried away sometimes and my own personal opinion kicks in. But no matter what, you're bound to meet people who are going to treat you disrespectfully and start a (pointless) argument. It just depends who you talk to in Mabinogi that makes the server enjoyable.

I'd argue against the pay to win. In the beginning yea it definitly was u couldn't even rebirth without paying 10 bucks, but now they're being quite generous in terms of events and functionality of the game. It's now significantly easier to make money because of the free inventory plus release for all characters (allows all characters to have a personal shop) and although you do get an advantage(somewhat) if you buy a character card to rebirth every week instead of every 3 pet are no longer an issue. You start out with 2 pet on a new account be default and although the don;t have inv space there are event pets that you can get to fix that.(I've obtained 3 event pets and 1 pet for completing g18) So just in the past few months I find mabinogi to be much more enjoyable than what its been. On another note as you get higher you generally can just find high ticket items such as upgrade stones or robes with stats and sell them to make money.

This was posted like, ages ago. I'm not saying it's pay to win entirely, but I'm saying those 'fashionogist' addicts are most likely to head down this path.

Free inventory space didn't come till after. And the free pets were limited on what to have (Of course there's the events to get a free pet and now a G18 horse for completing all of the episodes).

Plus, to become really strong, there are reforges that gets spammed crazy so they can be ridiculously strong.

But yeah, they're making it more easy for players. Including that Dressing room, that free inventory space.
Ryou 19 MAR 2014 a las 21:30
Great post, and currently players can store clothes and armor in the dressing room for a small gold fee. So you don't need a massive amount of pets.

On a side note I do events to make money in mabi the items in events don't usually interest me that much but they're well worth their time in gold. You can get well over a million worth of items during an event period if you spend the time and tend to get lucky a few times.
