Players threatening to have you banned?
So, I ran into something strange last night, someone approached me out of the blue in public chat, and after some rudeness and talking said they would get my account banned, and ended with "we will be watching you"

I wont mention names for now, but I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience to this.

They're being a troll, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. If you have not done anything to break the terms of service then they can't do anything to you.

What Hanahoshi said; players themselves can't do something like that, and bans in any game aren't based on the number of reports made.

Now if they start harassing you the ability to contact support about said harassment is always there.

What really got me about it is them giving information they really should not have, IE my characters precice CP, that I had initiated a trade with someone. Which I know is not possible without client modding ,which if I remeber rightly is agaisnt the TOS, is it not?

You'd be correct in your assumption, client modification is a no-no in the ToU/ToS.

CP viewing is modding the game client and shouldn't be possible to see by a player. If a player is trading with another player and you send them a trade request you'll get a "player is currently busy" message of sorts.

They seemed to know quite accurately who I was trading with, and given what I've seen and heard over the years of playing mabi, I wouldn't be surprised if someone did figure out a way to obtain that data.

I really don't like that someone who can spy on things a normal player sohuldn't see seems to have a chip on their shoudler towards me. Claiming I've done something wrong based soly on who I've traded with, when they're flagrantly bending, if not breaking the rules themself.

I've been gone from mabi for a while, but last I remeber there were not in game moderators that roam around who'd be allowed such power. And I assume ones added would be marked, and would not approach in such a snarky and accusitory manner if they had reason to belive you were doing something wrong.

If you have screenshot evidence of the chat log, you can report them through the Nexon ticketing system or the Contact Moderator forum section on the official forums located here: http://mabinogi.nexon.net/Community/forums#%2Fforumdisplay.php%3F312-Contact-Moderator%26nxid%3D10

As already stated, don't worry, they can't get you banned as long as you are following the TOS and not breaking any rules. ^^

If you would ever be so kind to give us the names of these players, Myself, as well as the forum mods around here, know a few people within the GM team and could do a little investigation ourselves. Your server would also be extremely helpful.

It's best that the OP give the names via ticket or the Contact Moderator forum section on the Official forums/site since posting names is not allowed on the forums as it's considered harassment. Only the GMs can see the information given in the Contact Mod section and with any other information provided, they can have it saved on file against those causing trouble in game.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to screencap the interaction.
neoVictrix Dec 1, 2015 @ 3:56pm
I believe I might know what they were using if that's the case, and if so still shouldn't have anything to worry about.

There should also be a report button in-game you can use when the chat window is open.

I've heard from others that the report button hasn't been working properly for a while now, although I personally haven't had use it in quite a long time. :(

It technically says there is an error and the report couldn't be sent, on first use, but resending generally does away with the error.

As for whether or not it actually goes through, I'm not sure

This isn't the right process of doing things, but if you are willing to contact the GMs about something, why not do something productive and inform them about my thread instead? It would give a much needed boost to our community in terms of population number.
