Still not available through steam for EU?

You guys already blocked the gacha for us so we can't buy them in game from the cash shop years ago so we could continue to play, so why is it still not available on here? Besides, government has reverted that rule afaik. Please, I'd love to play Mabi through Steam already. LOL

As far as I know you can only play Mabinogi through Steam if you live in the US or Canada and it has been that way forever. There might be some law or Steam rule preventing them from changing it. But is Nexon after all so they might just not want to put in the effort changing it since most of their players play through the Nexon Launcher anyway. At least you can still obtain most gacha items from players selling them on the Auction House.

Still I agree it definitely does suck more players can't play through Steam though. It is something they should try to change before we all move over to Unreal 5. Steam is a massive platform and they will only lose new potential players if they find out they can't play through Steam unless they are in the US or Canada. Not every player wants to download that bloatware Nexon Launcher and with more people having shorter attention spans these days if they can't get it through Steam some may just give up and not want to put in the effort of downloading the Nexon Launcher from the official site as it takes longer. Steam you just download the game, create an account while you wait and play. Plus you only have to enter your log in information once and after that you never need to do it again on Steam. Nexon Launcher you have to go to site to download it, install it, log in, have them advertise their other games right after you log in and then download the game. Downloading Mabinogi and Launching it through Steam is just faster and cleaner.

Oh yeah I have no issue not being able to not buy the gacha. Since forever I have always bought such items from player shops anyway. Made even easier these days with the auction house feature, though I miss scouring the shops in Belvast in the hopes of finding what I want and then that heck yeah moment when finding it eventually.

I just felt it could be why it was not made available on steam for us. But it could be as you say; sheer laziness which indeed at this point I am prone to believe, heh. Mabi is also the only Nexon game I play so yeah that launcher is just obnoxious. I think most gamers using Steam just wanna play all their games through Steam as indeed it's cleaner, quicker, easier.

I wish more publishers would keep this in mind as it really helps them garner and/or maintain players. For example: I actually quit Mabi years ago after playing it religiously for years. It's still my favorite MMORPG next to FFXIV. Mabi is just so unique and the story is stellar. Feeling like diving back in after so long, I would have picked it back up again if I could have played it through Steam. But no dice.

The most likely reason why is it is easier for Nexon to do an entire IP region block then try to configure it so just people in certain countries while in those countries. It will be less headache for them as the laws in Europe are confusing then you have to translate the law into English where it will be read and if you ever read law it can be written in a way to exclude what one company is doing but include everyone else. So to not deal with that head ache and to prevent having to modify their system later on most likely just blocked all from buying gacha. You still can buy pets and other items that you know what you are buying.

As all the laws only include everything revolving around chance. It is to stop gambling not online commerce. Nexon alike to Amazon sells stuff online that you know exactly what you are getting. Just with Mabinogi it is a virtual item while Amazon the majority of the time it is something physical.

Yeah I maybe worded my post a bit weirdly. Sorry. My issue is not the fact we can't buy gacha. It's the fact that due to them blocking it years ago, we got enabled to enjoy continue playing the game rather than have the whole game become blocked to my region. Ergo; I don't get the reason for them to not make it available on Steam. Many games aren't to my region due to certain predatory gacha systems, it's why, for example, Phantasy Star Online 2 is not available in my region. But since Mabi removed this issue as Gacha is NOT a part for EU that shouldn't be a reason to still not have it available through Steam any longer, so I was asking why it still isn't playable through Steam for us Europeans, ether. Have been waiting for years. We already got effed over before when the EU servers shut down. And now this. Way to make EU players feel they matter, damn. xD
