Miro Fox has the right of it, they're not that expensive or rare. *Rough* translation of gold = $$$ is 1m = 1$. You absolutely will not have to rely on RMT for this, thank fully.

No, definitely not. You could probably get the entire Kirito set (thats what I assume you want) for 25m~50m. The swords may be more expensive. Though considering the sheer volume of other SAO items, including titles and wings it will be very expensive if you decide to go for EVERYTHING. As Lukecis said, the 67th floor enchant is absurdly expensive for its high max-damage allotment.

Swords and Enchants seem unimportant to you right now, If all you want is for your character to look like Kirito or Asuna you can get the oiutfits if you farm gold for a while,

The Performance and stats stuff is quite optional for Fashionogi

can i buy gold? and where do i get the items from im a newbie

RMT is against the ToS so you run the risk of being banned, but if you click the farthest right button from the various menu buttons at the bottom of the screen in game you can access the auction house.
