Any way to make the UI larger?
So, I've just gotten a 55'' 4K TV, set the game to the native res. Game runs fine and all, but the UI is so extremely small to the point where I can barely read anything unless I get closer to the screen. Any suggestions? The only option I've found so far is to lower the resolution, but that's not really something I'd be overjoyed to have to do.

Im sorry to say that, other than rescaling the resolution, theres no way to change the UI size, at least not that I know of.
Without knowing what your video card is or whether or not you're streaming it to your TV, the only thing(s) I can think of that might work is to try:
  • using the TV's built-in upscaler (depending on your TV's make/model of course) or through your GPU's software settings
  • using the fit-Headless GS [www.fit-pc.com]dongle (this thing is awesome with the Steam Link BTW)

two RX580 8GB's in CS is my GPU setup, any advice other than those two?
Hmm. Assuming you are running Windows 10, other things I would try is updating your video card drivers. I would also try changing the desktop resolution to 4k.

It would be helpful if I knew what your current setup is to get a better idea, and whether or not you are doing any streaming from your PC to the TV or just using the TV as a monitor.

Just using the TV as a monitor, Full setup (that actually matters) is a Ryzen 7 1700k, dual 580's, the 55" 4K screen that's set to native. Drivers are all UTD according to my last check a few days ago, but it's set to auto update. @ Work right now, so I can't check at this moment if there are any updates.
Okay, not a problem.

Until you get the chance to check... when you say the 4K is set to native, did you mean it's set that way through the TV's settings and/or your PC's? Because you may actually have to lower your display size until it becomes readable. Additionally, have you checked the settings in your Mabinogi game client?

Both are set to Native 4k, and mabinogi was set to default, which is 4k. I'll mess with the display on my TV, there IS an option to zoom in, but that cuts off a portion off the desktop obviously, and would be tedious at best when I want to start/end playing the game.

In that case, you may want to turn off your TV's overscan[www.howtogeek.com].

I forgot to mention, make sure you're using the video card's supported drivers and not the ones 'found via the Windows drivers search' option - especially if you're using Radeon's GPU software. (Your GPU's software is probably the most ideal place to force a 4K resolution.) Furthermore, try playing with Mabinogi's Expand Zoom and Range of Vision options if you're experiencing issues with blurring.

I've also been doing some digging on changing the UI size for higher resolutions. While there are mods that can help change and enlarge the font, however, the UI and game window sizes are not increased. You may want to consider lowering your resolution for Mabi until you can read the text comfortably,

When I get off work I'll put it in 1440p and see how that goes. I can just force AA to make the game a bit less jaggy since, you know, chopping a good percent off your res will do that.
Cool. Please keep me posted of your findings!

Set the game to 1440p, it was... slightly better, but the only res that seems to work for me is plain 1080P. Cranked the AA up to 16X for the internal GPU settings. Game looks about the same as it did on 4k. Can't say I should be too suprised that the game doesn't bode well with 4K, considering it was made when 1280x720 on a 20-25'' TV was the norm.

Edit: I didn't notice before, but the icons are actually properly sized, like when you go to stretch the minimap out, the arrows are the same size as usual, so it seems that only text based stuff is the issue.

Glad to hear it's working a little better. Perhaps you can write a guide on Steam to help other 4K users? Just a thought.

Anyhoo... Despite the game's age (2003-2004 from what I've been reading), I am a bit surprised there has been no real work done on the graphics and GUI to support newer hardware/operating systems and attempts to address accessibility issues. To give you an idea of what I mean regarding accessibility, the red sky in shadow missions trigger migrane headaches for me for some reason. Since there isn't an option to change it to a normal sky, I'm forced to avoid doing them as much as possible. On the bright side, if text is now the only problem you're experiencing, I found a Reddit thread with a YouTube link that might be of interest to you. The tiny font really messes with my eyes and causes horrible eye strain for prolonged periods, so this is something I'll be looking into as well.

Holy necro Batman, I forgot I even made this thread. Anyhow, the issue was solved back in... well, 2018, but thanks for the consideration and advice.
